    Time for an all-pixie campaign

But vampire is a class, not a race. ... !!! OMG PIXIE VAMPIRE! (I bet they sparkle ;)

    Time for an all-pixie campaign

    F. That. You can play every class as every race. It's one of the many beauties of 4e, and there's no reason to get rid of it. Besides, there aren't any essentials-compatible implement-based defenders, so this would handicap my plans to roll up on the local Encounters group with a party of...

DM's Kit & the Treasure Generation System

That's not how probability works. If you flip a coin and it comes up heads, it is not more likely to come up tails the next time.

    Paladin question

    Yep, you've got it.

    Modeling strength drain

An attack that weakens and grabs, and a different attack that only can target weakened characters that it has grabbed? (Perhaps one that drains surges, or just that does big damage?) No need to do it all at once...

    Paladin question

I believe the full write up is in Divine Power, but I literally packed that book to move about 2 hours ago. So, off the top of my head: It has the same effects as your divine challenge, but it's not your divine challenge. It's a way to let a PHB Paladin apply the punishment effects of their...

Confused about Gear, where can I find armor and items to reward my players

...and certainly more useful than the search function in most book.

    Ditching OA's, replace with....?

In my defense, I didn't say they were too stupid to understand the rules, I said they were too lazy to learn them. As you reiterated, the example provided had zero to do with OAs; so I'm still not sure how getting rid of OAs will help. The basic OA is a very simple thing; they're walking away...

    Ditching OA's, replace with....?

Although, I have NEVER seen an rpg, even a strongly narrative one (something like Dogs in the Vineyard) have simple rules for resolving actions when more than two characters want to react to each other. Three is a hard number; it's inherently more difficult than two.

    Ditching OA's, replace with....?

First, thank you very much for the example. Now I'm going to nit-pick it ;) Most significantly, not one bit of this example deals with opportunity actions or opportunity attacks, so really it's got nothing to do what the stated intent of this thread. But let's put that aside and assume, for...

    Ditching OA's, replace with....?

You're the second (third?) person to say this now, and I still cannot even conceive what could possibly cause this sort of cascade. The worst I've seen is: ally moves; monster attacks ally with OA; fighter punishes monster via Combat Challenge. I think you've either got some fundamental aspect...

    Ditching OA's, replace with....?

Strange. I've never seen that sort of problem, ever. And I played a fighter for 16 levels, in a party with two fighters.

Let that be a lesson to ya'

The reason why it got made and why it sucked was my only point; if you got that, you followed my whole argument. As an aside: Atari is still going to make D&D games; but they're licensed through both Hasbro and WotC now (instead of just Hasbro). They didn't announce any other details, although...

Let that be a lesson to ya'

I think it's the other way around. Daggerdale only got made so that Atari could say "See? We're still using it!" Which is why they gave the absolute minimum of support to the project and released it well before it was ready (i.e., before the settlement was announced) and why they are...

    Ditching OA's, replace with....?

What's are you having trouble with? Every creature gets one opportunity action on each other creatures turn. They can use that opportunity action to make a melee basic attack against an enemy when that enemy attempts to exits a square they threaten (an "opportunity attack") unless that enemy...

    Skill Challenges

I've run into folks who announce "this is a skill challenge!" and folks who don't, and I've run into folks who like skill challenges and folks who don't. But I've never run into anyone who announces skill challenges and likes them. So take that as you will.

    Moster Manual priority

The "modern approach" is two things. The first is easily quantifiable: hit points, defenses, damage, and attacks that better-track the same quantities in the PCs, so that equal-level threats are more consistently challenging (and so, more fun.) It's possible to apply these "math updates" to old...

DMing a Fourthcore Game, Need Some Rules Refreshers

The general rule on forced movement is you can't move someone into the air (check the PHB1 errata, page 21; btw, the teleport rules you want are on the same page) so it would have to be a special ability; sounds cool though. Prone is a pretty easy status effect to pull off, you might want to...

    Simplified Rolls

Math... isn't... geeky? Wait, wait... programming isn't MATH? (For the record, FireLance's answer of 55/9 (or 6 1/9) is correct, but I'll give Herschel's answer of "beheaded" credit as well. Although I've apparently given you both experience too recently, so I can't ACTUALLY give you "credit".)
