D&D 5E Criticizing the new edition of D&D (because I like it a lot)

I disagree with nearly every one of your changes. But I think it's a great set of houserules. I'm kind of tempted by the CON for death saving throws myself.

Value for money? How long does it take you to play through published adventures?

My group is finishing WotBS 4e this month. (Like, literally. Our last session ended in middle of the last fight. We have one session to go.) Including the last session, we will have played 108 sessions, or about 324 hours. (Two non-stop weeks!) We started playing August 2010, so that's a solid...

Piratecat's "TimeWatch" kickstarter is 1090% funded and mentioned on Boing Boing. Woot!

Congratulations, Piratecat! Backed (and tweeted!) solely on the strength of your contributions here.

    Maths guys - hey! (Probabilities)

    Okay, I've written a Monte-Carlo simulation to answer these questions. For a countdown pool where you remove dice showing a 6: Pool Size: Median Rounds / Mode (Average) 1: <4 / 1 (6.0) 2: <7 / 4 (8.7) 3: <9 / 7 (10.6) 4: =10 / 9 (11.9) 5: >11 / 9 (13.0) 6: >12 / 10 (13.9) Here's the...

ZEITGEIST Zeitgeist going by the wayside

I agree. I've avoided reading much of Zeitgeist, because I'm hoping to be a player in it some day, but the stuff I have seen is top-notch. Amazing production values and the first adventure was perhaps the best 4e adventure I've read. It blew me away, and this is coming from someone who's known...

    D&D 5E June 20 Q&A Legendary Creature Questions

In 4e, XP is used very effectively as a tool for determining encounter difficulty, even if you don't track XP for character advancement. I believe they're doing the same thing with Next.

WotBS WotBS Cheat Sheets - UPDATE w/ #10 (Ye Cursed Child)

You know, I haven't found it to be too much of a problem. Some people have trouble challenging the superpowered PCs; others find that combat grind gets bad. I think these reinforce each other. My PCs are level 25 and I've had a bit of trouble challenging them, but a few tweaks to my encounters...

WotBS WotBS Cheat Sheets - UPDATE w/ #10 (Ye Cursed Child)

I've added adventure #10: "Sleep, Ye Cursed Child." My group's just started this one, but it looks like we're actually going to finish the entire 30-level campaign! That will be a first for me. Thanks RangerWickett, Morrus, and all the EN World folks for the years of enjoyment you've provided.

WotBS WotBS Cheat Sheets - UPDATE w/ #10 (Ye Cursed Child)

Added adventure #9, The Festival of Dreams. Some of the individual cheat sheets have characters included, but that's all I have.

    D&D 4E best 4e adventures?

Ooooh, seconded. Bought it, loved reading it, looking forward to running it someday.

WotBS WotBS Cheat Sheets - UPDATE w/ #10 (Ye Cursed Child)

Oh, right. The cheat sheet is correct even if the title isn't.

WotBS WotBS Cheat Sheets - UPDATE w/ #10 (Ye Cursed Child)

I've added my cheat sheet for WotBS #8--Tears of the Burning Sky. It got inserted all wonky-like instead of added to the "Attached Files" list, but you can still download it. Edit: Derp Oh Wintry Song of Agony derp

Proof D&D is in serious decline

I reject the premise. Even if we take Google search volume as a proxy for popularity--and I'm okay with that--those graphs don't show a game in decline! Check out this graph, which shows 2007 to the present...

    Playtesting in Detail

Scrum the most widely-used Agile method, so quite usual. Product Owner is a formal Scrum role that encompasses all aspects of "decide what product to create and the order in which it's going to be built." There's no "Customer Advocate" role in Scrum, but it's easy to see how a product owner...

Small Party in the War of the Burning Sky

WotBS is excellent. The 4e conversion... not so much. The encounters are poorly designed and it has has questionable additions to the adventures. But my (4e) group is still having a great time. We've been playing it for about two years. Our secret? Play the 3.5e version and build my own...

    Dragon 416

Interesting--thanks! I just did the same with one of my old Dragons--#145, May 1989. The ALL NEW second edition is advertised on the back cover. :D After cutting out the letters, forum, sage advice, convention calendar, and other stuff that's found on the Internet these days, I counted: 1/3...

    Dragon 416

The print magazines had a lot of advertisements. How many actual pages of content did they have? I seem to remember them having 72 print pages, so assuming that about half were advertisements, 40 pages seems on par.

    WotBS [wotbs] Etinifi (spoilers)

This is timely. My group is going to start adventure 8 soon. From my reading of the adventure, Etinifi's motivations seem pretty clear:
