New Year, New Campaign: Crown and Skull

I own the first volume, and it's one of those things where I like a lot of it, but I'd never use it as-is. Instead I'll be tearing the guts out, and stuff them into something else I like a little more that needs 'em. Other examples being stuff like Hyperborea and Ambition & Avarice.

Wizards of the Coast Is Hiring a D&D Worldbuilder

The thought of wotc hiring Jim Ryan and somehow doing a big live service push is at least a little funny.

Wizards of the Coast Is Hiring a D&D Worldbuilder

Specifically all the box sets is a thing I've seen come up, it's hard to convince people to keep buying setting box sets if they cost more than just like a book on its own AND you can play for long periods of time with just one.

D&D General If I had the D&D/WotC Worldbuider job, I would... (+ thread)

Domain play is one of those things lots of people love, and everyone else doesn't seem to understand the love at all. I'm definitely of the former, and the bastion rules being directly implemented and improved upon in a book would be nice... but I also have no faith in wotc so lmao.

How likely are you to use D&D for your next game?

Got to play it with Schwalb dming at a con (demon lord too!) and that's one of my favorite memories of the last few years. I love pretty much all the changes, but I also love demon lord on its own merits so I'd love to hear what you preferred in it. As for what's missing... orcs?

How likely are you to use D&D for your next game?

Oh I desperately want to run weird wizard, waiting on jp coovert's dragon town box set to arrive before I try setting something up at a FLGS for it.

    How often do you play?

Currently a player in two games a week, one pf2e and one pf1e. And always rotating a potential campaign in my head I'd dm.

D&D (2024) Where to next, WotC?

I definitely prefer the adventure path style so that's not a positive at least for me. As well the starter set is just keep on the borderlands again, with a weird new card based character creation system.

D&D (2024) Where to next, WotC?

There really isn't much coming out this year. A few adventure compilations, some sourcebooks that have short ones in them. No actual full modules. And while adventures have sold well, they've all had pretty big criticisms applied to them. The compilations usually have fewer criticisms because...

D&D (2024) Where to next, WotC?

I do wonder if they're giving up on long adventures. I can't think of a full adventure they've published that got universal praise, even the good ones have pretty big issues. Switching to just shorter compilations when those have been better received would make sense... even if it would be...

How likely are you to use D&D for your next game?

The idea of a 4e retroclone amuses me enough that I don't regret my vote, but yeah correct lol.

    D&D General Humanoids...and world demographics

I hate having actual numbers, too limiting. I always like the old quote which I'll paraphrase here: "there are always exactly enough elves left for them to matter, but still be a dying race."

How likely are you to use D&D for your next game?

Sure! Link here: https://tundalus.itch.io/trespasser Trespasser is a d20-based roleplaying game about common folk becoming adventurers amid the ruins of their fallen land. It is designed for player-driven, sandbox-style campaigns of base building, survival, dungeon crawling, and perilous...

    D&D General Humanoids...and world demographics

A chaos daemon invasion reduced the world's population down to the low millions, with most in a single city and scattered strongholds across the planet. The key theme of the setting is disparate people who used to be opposed to each other forced to work together. So a region could have what used...

How likely are you to use D&D for your next game?

I went with "retroclone" even though it's not entirely accurate, because the game I'm using is Trespasser. It's based off of 4e, with OSR trappings, which I'm a big fan of.

CMON to Publish 5E Books For Massive Darkness

I just really want more fantasy RPGs. I do not like 5e so that plays a part, but so many "5e-compatible" books would be better as their own thing. Dark Souls... ough...

CMON to Publish 5E Books For Massive Darkness

Find myself wishing they were making their own RPG instead of just doing 5e-compatible.

ZWEIHÄNDER Reforged: Talking With Daniel D. Fox (World of Game Design)

The OSR ones are all fairly good games that either compile ancient games into readable formats or add something new, or both. I don't care about Tales of the Valiant (it looks stinky), and bounced out of Level Up fairly quickly despite liking the monster book and stuff more than base 5e...

ZWEIHÄNDER Reforged: Talking With Daniel D. Fox (World of Game Design)

If I'm looking for a profession based system, I'll probably stick with the shadows of the games. I've bounced around the idea of doing Zweihander a couple times, but nothing really drew me in compared to SoTDL or Warhammer. Is there anything really unique to it to think about compared to those?
