    D&D 5E As a DM - Your Top 3 Most Hated Spells

    1. Healing Word - I tire of the 'whack a mole' 5e combat 2. Counterspell - Let casters cast without a 5 minute circle jerk. 3. Monk Stunning Strike (I know it's not a spell) - Far too powerful as written

WotC New D&D Stream Replaces Dice, Camera, Action!

There was an "Official D&D stream"? Go figure. Learn something new every day. I look forward to ignoring the new one.

Unearthed Arcana New Unearthed Arcana: Psionics!

And the worst thing was to roll psionic ability then roll low on the power chart. It basically opened you up to psionic attacks and everything could kick your butt! Attacks on non-psionics were limited to a single attack type. The other quirk, psionic combat happened once each segment. We...

RPG Crowdfunding News – The Islands of Sina Una, Traveller, TORG Cyberpapacy, Mummy, and more

Don't play TORG, but "Cyberpapacy" has nice sound to it. All your idea's would also be a cool RPG experience.

Worlds of Design: "Your Character Wouldn't Do That"

I almost never tell a player what their character will do. I may question their motivations if they are acting uncharacteristically, or metagaming, and let them reconsider their choice. D&D is cooperative story telling. Player agency is a crucial component and I do my best to leave it...

    RPG Evolution: When Gaming Bleeds

I had thought of that. But in this case the blind NPC was more of the cartoon-like characterization of a blind person, rather than an NPC who also happened to be blind. The difference is significant. For that reason, I excluded it. I would have had no issues if they had presented the NPC...

    RPG Evolution: When Gaming Bleeds

I had an interesting session that indirectly relates to this discussion. We have a player who plays AL at our FLGS. He is almost entirely blind. Eyes clouded over, white cane, uses an app that reads his character sheet to him and announces die rolls out loud. Normally, I just treat him like...

D&D 5E Official Locathah Playable Race Released

+2 STR, +1 DEX, Natural Armor 12+DEX, Proficiency in Athletics and Perception, Advantage on saves vs charmed, frightened, paralyzed, poisoned, stunned, or put to sleep, must be submerged every 4 hours or you suffocate (eeep!), 30 ft walk/swim. Suffocating after 4 hours on land is pretty...

D&D General Interview with creator of the movie - Secrets of Blackmoor

We just posted an interview on our podcast with Griffith Mon Morgan III, one of the co-creators of the movie Secrets of Blackmoor: The True History of Dungeons & Dragons. https://soundcloud.com/thelagradionetwork/the-grognards-opportunity-attack-with-griffith-mon-morgan-iii

TSR The Dueling Essays of Arneson & Gygax

The lawsuit was about money, not credit. Honestly, I can understand (but not necessarily agree with) Gygax not putting Arneson's name on AD&D. If you compare AD&D to ODD, there is a ton of difference in the amount of content and substantial changes to the ruleset.

TSR The Dueling Essays of Arneson & Gygax

Ugh! Another book I now need to read to quench my thirst for early D&D history! We actually just interviewed Griff Morgan, who co-created Secrets of Blackmoor, on my podcast (The Grognards, found under the LAG Radio Network) and I am finding the arguments that Arneson deserves far more credit...

D&D 5E Dungeons, Mayhem, and Dice Accessories: A Review

If people haven't tried Dungeon Mayhem, check it out. I am not much of a card/board gamer, but it is a quick and easy game that is a lot of fun as a reasonable price. Don't expect deep strategy, it is a beer & pretzels type game appropriate for gamers and non-gamers alike.

TSR Rob Kuntz Recounts The Origins Of D&D

Personally, I feel the 'Eureka' moment was Braunstein, and everything that followed was a logical progression. Strategos N added the role of a very active referee, rather than just a rules arbiter or scenario designer. This was the first glimmer of what would become the Dungeon Master. In...

TSR Rob Kuntz Recounts The Origins Of D&D

I agree with much of what has been said here. Both Gygax and Arneson were crucial to D&D. Arneson deserves more credit that he is normally given, Gygax gets the recognition he deserves. I also believe Dave Wesely should get a ton more credit than he receives. Strategos N and Braunstein were...

WotC Frylock's Gaming & Geekery Challenges WotC's Copyright Claims

Not a lawyer, but even just reviewing the Wikipedia entry on Feist, it seems that stat blocks demonstrate a level of creativity that meets the very low standard set by that case. If it was readily apparent to everyone that a cyclops had 22 hit points, then there is no creativity. But...

    EN World The old server

" In fact, WotC owes a lot of sales directly from the work I’ve done with organized play and running my convention back in 2010 and 2011." Does it count as trolling if I just post a quote from his blog?
