    D&D (2024) D&D Dungeon Master’s Guide (2024)

Is it just me, or does anyone else see the Nentir Vale in chapter 8 as surprise setting?

Dragonlance Dragons Of Eternity By Margaret Weis And Tracy Hickman Coming August 6, 2024

Oh... the cover is bad, I didn't recognize Kitiara and Tanis at all. I think the heydays of Dragonlance are over. If I remember correctly, the line wasn't that popular during the AD&D 2nd Edition run either. For 3rd edition WotC even licensed it away to Margret Weis Games. I wouldn't be...

D&D (2024) WotC Reveals The Confirmed Release Dates of 2024's D&D Slate

Late reply :) I would have expected a GenCon release.

D&D (2024) WotC Reveals The Confirmed Release Dates of 2024's D&D Slate

I suspect that the PHB design took longer than expected. They weren't even keeping to the originally announced schedule of the playtests.

D&D Movie/TV Joe Manganiello: Dragonlance TV Show No Longer In Development

I loved Dragonlance in the 1980s. I find it interesting that Dragonlance: Shadow of the Dragonqueen and the board game didn't sell well. Which doesn't surprise me. They tried to pitch Dragonlance as "D&D at War". And I never saw Dragonlance that way. Dragonlance showed back then how special a...

    WotC Hasbro selling D&D IP?

So Hasbro has financial troubles and decides that the best way to deal with them is by selling one of the cash cows? On the fifties anniversary of that property no less? I highly doubt that. That makes sense in the very short term only, but in the long run.

Ben Riggs: 'The Golden Age of TTRPGs is Dead'

"The frequency of million-dollar TTRPGs will decrease" - Those haven't relied on D&D in the past. Why should they decrease? The most successful TTRPG Crowdfundings were/are by completely separate systems from D&D 5e. This seems to be a highly subjective opinion piece. Honestly, the author lost...

Nominate your MOST ANTICIPATED RPG of 2024

Also quick question: Shadowdark is out in PDF already, so it wouldn't qualify?

Is Daggerheart really scheduled for next year and not 2025?

    D&D (2024) Take A Closer Look At The 2024 Dungeon Master’s Guide

Exactly my thoughts. It would make sense as a callback, and also the Nentir Vale has already proven that it can fit into a DMG. Greyhawk, Forgotten Realms or Blackmoor would just be too big to fit in a single chapter of the DMG.

I would love to see an EN World article or interview about Shadowdark.

WotC Unveils Draft of New Open Gaming License

Honestly, looking at the most recent ORC announcement, WotC is sitting in an empty building. From what I can tell, every major publisher except one and every middling publisher has jumped ship.Basically, WotC can put anything they want into the OGL 1.2, because apparently nobody will be using...

WotC Unveils Draft of New Open Gaming License

I have an issue with „obscene“. This can be used to ban the depiction of same gender couples or same gender kisses from OGL products. „Obscenity laws“ have been/are one of the main avenues to battle LGBTQIA+ people in the past and present. Who guarantees that a future Hasbro/WotC management...

OGL-Gate & Mainstream Media: The Guardian Weighs In

Well, I think this is quickly reaching the point where someone on the executive level has to take the blame and step down to save the brand. If that happens, and then the create an OGL 1.0b quickly and turn it over to a foundation like Paizo is planning to do, and making sure WotC nor any other...

The OGL -- Just What's Going On?

To me this all looks terribly self-inflicted by the creative companies. Everyone currently is/was jumping on the train to profit from D&D 5e. On the positive side, using D&D 5e as vehicle increased the customer base. Kickstarters who would have struggled to get a five digit pledge amount could...

Nominate your MOST ANTICIPATED RPG of 2023 [NOMINATIONS OVER]

Werewolf: The Apocalypse 5th Edition is also a likely contender. The Walking Dead Universe RPG will be released by Free League as far as I know. One DnD is most likely winner for most anticipated RPG 2024. But that‘s also the release year, so I guess it‘s a bit premature to put it on the...

RPG Print News – Exalted Funeral, Legendary Games, and More

Are you sure that Hunter: The Vigil 2nd Edition is published by Renegade Games and uses D&D 5e as a system? ;) I think the publisher is rather Onyx Path Publishing, and the system is Chronicles of Darkness.

D&D Movie/TV An Analysis of the Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves Trailer

I‘ve got a theory regarding the Druid shifting into an owlbear. WotC is currently shifting the rules and in 2024 a new trio of corebooks will be released. The movie is clearly a signal to the TTRPG fans that owlbears will no longer be monstrosities, but instead will be beasts. It‘s just another...

    Campaign Master: Finish Existing Campaigns

I have the same "shiny new object" syndrome. But I think, I have it under control. Without consciously aiming for it, I did what the author described: finishing campaigns. Oddly, I learned that on G+. It was there that I learned to commit to smaller campaigns with 6-13 sessions, and then really...
