D&D 5E Sell me on Wizards

That is an excellent point. Advantage + critting is quite strong. My group will have a half orc barbarian I expect, so critting the Big Bad will be extra potent. edit: In fact, the Holds are the ONLY paralysis in spells. that's a pretty big tool in your toolkit as a wizard. Granted, bards...

D&D 5E Sell me on Wizards

These things are not comparable. Fighter attacks are not expendable resources. Even battle master attacks are often, if not mostly, applied after a hit, and are refreshed more frequently. Web is area of effect and sticks around, even if it doesn't stick someone immediately, providing a handy...

D&D 5E Sell me on Wizards

sadly, the guide there almost does the opposite for me, certainly at lower level, Below level 14, even conjurers have no particular edge, and never really get the top notch summons (according to the guide, at least, the value of these can be debated). Falling Icicle I think his on my view...

D&D 5E Sell me on Wizards

quite honestly, I'm hoping to avoid that with this thread. I would love some more tangible reasons they are awesome in 5e, even I appreciate the love of wizards, I really do.

    D&D 5E [5e] Wizard CharOp

No CharOp for the wizard yet? I've seen very little, and it gives me the impression that it is very hard to do. Anyone have any tips on CharOp on a pre-fireball wizard?

    D&D 5E [MERGED] Various crossbow/dual-wielding threads

Nothing in crossbow expert says you have to be using ANY other weapon other than the hand crossbow. The way it is worded allows you to shoot the hand crossbow, reload it, and shoot the hand crossbow again, as the hand crossbow is itself a one handed weapon

D&D 5E Sell me on Wizards

So... Wizards (the class). I've played a lot of classes. I've been playing since 1978. One of the first characters I played was a wizard, and I always enjoyed things like making spells and the shenanigans one could pull. It seems, though, like there is not much talk about wizards on the board...

D&D 5E Mordenkainen's Sword is Limp and Made of Tinfoil

Mordenkainen's does appear to be a bit of a stinker. Bigby's does have the HP limit though, and that's a fairly big deal. It's large sized too, so not the most maneuverable. Still, it does more damag in an equivalent slot, no costly spell components, and more versatility.

    What is Gygaxian?

I think the vocabulary is key. For better or worse, 1e improved my vocabulary greatly.

    Mage:the Awakening is out. Opinions?

Well, this is good, although I found that starting off as lower power made for a more interesting game myself. sounds like they wanted to make a game that was more structured. Mage was, for better or worse, very hard. Again, more structured and more defined. And this disappoints me...

    poison crafting too expensive

Are the book poison prices artificially inflated to reflect their illegal nature? There is another character in my group who has craft(poison) and was looking at making poisons. I started doing the math and noticed that it takes weeks and weeks to make single doses of poison. Is this wrong? it...
