    Synnibarr vs WotC

The locals at one of the game stores here in Tacoma apparently know him. They playtested Synnibar and are unironically proud to share it. Like he's their local game designer celebrity. They enjoyed playing the game, that's all that counts. Oh, and I forgot, there is a new edition in the works...

    Best/Favorite Thin RPG Core Book

Brinkwood is 157 pages and like 1/4" thick so Imma go with that answer.

    Best/Favorite Thin RPG Core Book

What's "thin"? Both Agon and Brinkwood are about 150 pages...but Brinkwood is considerably thinner. If that's too thick, then I'd say Fate Accelerated.

But they're his stakes right? It's his business and reputation that's at risk. I get that you wouldn't take those actions but if he does them, why do you care?

    NuTSR Financial Data Breach

Per our PCI standards we can't store card numbers in plain text. They must be encrypted, and we have to have both limits on access in the database and access audits. This may be just our PCI compliance team being extra, but I doubt it.

    New Tribe 8 game

They did clean things up a bit in T8 2e, but they saddled the game with a revised system called SilCore which required a separate rulebook...so it didn't help matters much. They also moved the setting from Vimary to Capal, advancing the timeline significantly.

    New Tribe 8 game

It's more like we cajoled them enough into agreeing to publish the version we were working on. I'm pretty jazzed about it personally, I've been trying for a long time to get this off the ground.

    Help Me Understand Fate Core

Close, but not the way I would do it. A GM should spend a Fate Point on an NPC's invoke of the Twisted Ankle aspect. This is to do any of the things that invokes can do: get a bonus to the NPC's roll, a reroll, bonus to another character's roll, or increase passive resistance. In this case, the...

    Help Me Understand Fate Core

You are correct, I always forget about that part. But it doesn't change the fact that invokes and compels are very different animals. Invokes create mechanical effects, compels create complications. In my example, the scene with the King doesn't happen at all as a result of the compel.

    Help Me Understand Fate Core

The biggest thing to remember is that in Fate Core, a "hostile invoke" of an aspect (in other words, invoking somebody else's aspect for your own benefit) is not a compel. A compel is a distinct mechanical use of an aspect. Let's use the example of a character with the trouble aspect Checkered...

What the Heck is Fractal Adventure Design?

To be fair, the idea of the fractal in Fate Core (also known as the "Bronze Rule") is not full stat blocks for everything. It's that you can apply one or more components of what makes up a character (in FC terms, Aspects, Skills, Stunts, and Stress and Consequences) to what you need to in order...
