D&D 5E If you're planning to run 5e, have you started a homebrew campaign?

Yes, we decided to give it a whirl the weekend the Basic rules became available for download. I pretty much only run homebrew so this was no big deal. Until the DM packet came out a few weeks later, I was largely prepping using the last two iterations of the playtest packet and making the...

    D&D 5E So who is playing 5E?

Using the D&D basic rules (and as of last weekend, a single copy of the PH) to run two PCs through a version of the Southland setting from the Points of Light book. Probably just a 6-8 session game, by which time we'll see if we want to continue it or start something else. But right now we're...

D&D 5E What will 5E's "signature line" be?

"Shut up and play!" if our group is anything to go by.

    5e Submarines

As someone who actually liked the dwarven submarine in early 4e (either in the online dragon or an early book I don't recall which) I approve! Your treatment reminds me of the apparatus of Kwalish which is a big plus.

Tell me about gnomes and halflings in your world(s)!

IMC, the halflings are organized into great trading houses as they are essentially merchants, slowly plying their trade into spelljamming and expanding markets above everyone's heads. Gnomes are extinct as I don't much see the value in having two short races.

    warforged and plane of madness

I'm not precisely sure how I would implement this but the first thought that came to mind reading this was "maybe this is where Warforged souls come from." So...maybe the character suddenly remembers what it used to be before being created? Kind of campaign altering (to say the least) but...

D&D 5E How many of your campaigns ACTUALLY ever get to 20th level?

Isn't that the truth! I didn't really have any problems finding people until I moved...a few months before the 4e rollout left everyone holding hands and singing Kumbaya. :P Possibly wasn't the best time to seek new players in a new state is all I'm saying. Nowadays I've got two and even...

D&D 5E How many of your campaigns ACTUALLY ever get to 20th level?

3 or 4 actually, though I've been gaming since 1981. Though two of those were WotC era editions. (Easier to reach the higher levels then but much less fun IMO.)

D&D 5E Does it seem like Nerath was dropped like a bad habit?

Despite the fact that ultimately we didn't change over to 4th ed, I still found that the PoL / Nerath setting-not-setting far more compelling than any of the big ones save Eberron honestly. The good news is that the parts I liked weren't mechanical for the most part so I can still get lots of...

Which version of D&D is your favorite now?

My favorite remains BECMI and OD&D, with 1e AD&D as a runner up....but the new edition is EASILY my favorite post 1980s edition of D&D. :)

    D&D 5E Legends & Lore 7/21/14

Feats as "focused multiclass option" - mmmmm, maybe. I had all but given up on the new edition until I saw the basic rules. If they can convince me feats are no longer the great unclean thing they will likely be getting this house's money again. So mark me down as skeptical but intrigued.

Just for fun. Let's have a battle royal of the big 3.

Well right now my favorite fantasy gaming system is still either OD&D or the DCC RPG BUT of the three you listed, the only one I'm in any way interested in playing is the new/current edition of D&D (starting a game this weekend in fact).

D&D 5E Everyone happy the starter set will be based in the Realms?

If I had any intentions on buying the thing (which I don't) the whole Realms thing would be a big turn off. As it happens, I'm not so it's moot.

    Necromancer Games Character Sheet v1.02

I was going to say that I downloaded that very sheet the other day but this one has the stats in the "right" order. Keenerdoodles. :)

Another reason to look forward to August

*laughs* How the hell should I know? It was Christmas week. Given that I don't keep up with Who news from any source that isn't concerned with the production with regard to scheduling, the normal rationale is that if I remember it, it's probably right. In any case, I now know it's August...

Another reason to look forward to August

Agreed. Though I find that the more they show, the less I care about previews and the more I want the real thing. Which is the point I expect.

    relationships and romance

Talk to the player out of game and see what they think. Also, now would be a good time to find out how the rest of your group feels about such things. And if these conversations are turn out to be too difficult, maybe it's time to abstract that. :)

Perhaps over there. I keep hearing next year. Either way, I'm interested. :)
