D&D General What would be a good published setting to use for a dead/dying world that has been taken over by Tharizdun?

It's a little out of date, but White Wolf's Scarred Lands could be perfect for you with a little lore rewrite. The whole setting is a mess from a titans vs gods war.

    D&D (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Bard"

In all seriousness, I felt like Bards were unplayable before 5e. Now I'm actually excited to play one.

Sure, but they could just as easily used these. The only problem I see is with the art department.

With Galahad, Percival, and maybe Bors a case could be made that they fit the paladin archetype. In various tellings, those were the knights that found the grail. Most of the other knights were significantly flawed, Gawain being no exception. That said, I agree there is a strong case to be...

I think the point is that no changes are necessary to play a paladin in that way.

Yeah. The crusader orders are not what I would look to for inspiration on a D&D paladin in 2024, but they are definitely esential to the mythology from which the paladin has sprung. I could see a PC like that being a problem with some of my groups, but he would fit right in at others.

Once upon a time, that was how RPGs were commonly played. IMO, it's nice that we have moved away from that type of game, but every now and then I run into someone who enjoys a... well, a more adversarial role for DM/GM. Someone who waxes poetic about the good old days of save-less death traps...

It used to be. One of my favorite things about 5e was the disconnecting of Paladins from LG. You could ask 100 people to define each alignment, and you'd get 100 different answers. It made one table's perfect paladin another table's tale of how a paladin had fallen. As much as I enjoyed...

Good to see the old alignment arguments popping in on anything paladin related.

D&D (2024) Greyhawk Confirmed. Tell Me Why.

Updated Greyhawk is a great excuse for me to dig through old Dungeon Magazines. My wife and kids are not going to be happy. 🤣
