Thanks to those who entered the Morningstar Give-aways

In light of the recent news about EN World, I figured I should post my thanks to everyone who entered the Morningstar give away. Please know that the winners' copies of the book were mailed last week, and should arrive in the next few days. I hope everyone likes the book. Thanks again, and I'm...

    Dragon is Hiring!

I wish I could have afforded to stay in college. That four year degree is the only roadblock in the way of my goals.

Reminder: daylight savings time ends tonight!

I can't wait to get to Alaska (when I can finally afford to move)... almost no sunlight during the winter months, depending where I end up living. Yep. And in the Summer, I'll just hibernate. In case you couldn't tell, I'm with those who love the darkness.

Form an out of game point of view, I see what you're saying, and I agree with you. This character is within his rights to try these things. I don't think it's right to consider the consequences of an action as a moral or value judgement. My standpoint is that the character isin't likely to get...

    I like 3E, but I miss...

The real demon summoning rituals and *True Power* that were hidden in the rules. The new demons, while more "balanced" when I conjuure them, don't offer the same kinds of off the wall pacts that the old ones did. Orcus just don't seem the same. ;) I also miss how women would swoon as I juggled...

Scenario 1 A high level rogue is in the store when your player's character tries to do his thing and catches him, reporting him either to the store owner (to shield his own theft), or the thieve's guild, with all that entails. Scenario 2 The store owner he hits next is actually heavily...

Third Party Publisher designation and logo

Thank you Mark for explaining what you're trying to achieve with the Third Party Logo. I apologise for further muddying the waters of this thread with my confusion. I don't know why I assumed it was an attempt to bypass the d20 license. At any rate, I don't understand legalese, and seem to...

Third Party Publisher designation and logo

Why not a logo that actually says something that indicates compatability? Such as "OGC" "OPEN", "For use with 3.5" (don't know if the last one's kosher for OGC), or as some have simply said: "For use with the 3rd edition rules of the leading RPG system"? I guess the problem for me, and...

Contests: Should they go into general?

Yeah, I hear you Alsih2o- I always seem to kill the threads I post to, or even start :D . It's never seemed like you've had that problem, though... I just meant that when the contest was closed, I put a "contest closed" message at the end. Unless the topic was spectacularly interesting...

(CLOSED) Morningstar Give-away #5- ASHY WINS!

As for followups to the Setting, I'm working on an entire series that will give each Empire it's due, while deepening the setting in all areas. Each will feature more details on the Canticle, new locales, monsters, and any approprate crunch, such as prestige classes and spells. Each will...

(CLOSED) Morningstar Give-away #5- ASHY WINS!

Well, that's it... CONTEST CLOSED And one poster stands triumphant.... Ashy has won! Thanks you everyone, I'm glad that these threads actually got responses, I have to admit, I wasn't sure if many people knew about Morningstar. Thanks for playing everyone, and if I can, I'll surely hold...

(CLOSED) Morningstar Give-away #5- ASHY WINS!

Fast Learner's right... As for working with Goodman Games, it's been Awesome. Joseph Goodman lives up to his name :D. There have been times when I've expected criticism, but got encouragement, or when I've asked *dumb* questions and gotten thoughtful answers. The working relationship I've...

Let me qualify my last comment, What the reviewer saw as crunch, I see as GM tools, that are full of flavor. I honestly am not a fan of crunch for crunch's sake. I only put in the ncessary.

(CLOSED) Morningstar Give-away #5- ASHY WINS!

I hear you. Though the first review of Morningstar talks about it having 50% crunch, the goal of the setting is flavor and compelling campaign play. All crunch is really flavor in disguise :D. Getting close to the end of the contest...

(CLOSED) Morningstar Give-away #5- ASHY WINS!

Internal consistency is big with me; though there are huge armies that could potentially handle most threats under ideal conditions, they are very busy. Additionally, the Empire hires Delvers to recover specific items, or to fulfill quests. Add to this the various factions in the world, with...

(CLOSED) Morningstar Give-away #5- ASHY WINS!

Interesting places My computer's acting strangely... At any rate, along with the rules for Spectrum magic, allowing you to customize your own unique locales, there are numerous places of interest. Looking in the Empire of Brendir alone, there are: Trodos- a city that rests in the hands of a...

(CLOSED) Morningstar Give-away #5- ASHY WINS!

Excellent. If I may say so myself, I think Morningstar fulfills all of these criteria. The whole world was designed to fit together; and isn't just a hodge-podge of ideas flung against a wall. It's got A unified theme: The golden age threatned by a Dark prophecy, 5 types of cool elves...

Contests: Should they go into general?

Well, I for one, have been planning mine for months to coincide with the release of my book. I made sure to ask Morrus if it was ok to put it in General, and he said it was fine... I also designed each one to drop off the page when it was done, to prevent undo clutter.
