Why would a dragon NOT take Antimagic field?

It is a common tactic of my more intelligent dragon to use anti magic stuff. I even have one Ancient Black whose entire lair is rigged with an anti magic trap. Dragons live a long time...and they want it to stay that way. Slaying a dragon should be an accomplishment. If the dragon realizes the...

How strong to battle the Gods?

In my campaign I am having the players go up against the Giants of Norse legend. I am not talking about those cream puffs in the monster manuals, but these are giants that rivaled and fought the Norse Gods. I was looking for ideas on how to develop them. The story is pretty much set, but not...

Wild Shape and number of attacks question

Oh...it's not FOR me... a player has been using BAB for additional attack (and doing some other things...) that I am correcting. About 18 months ago I started a 3.5 campaign after not playing DnD in a LONGTIME (I want to say like 1988 was my last active game). So, I trusted the players on...

Wild Shape and number of attacks question

Level 18 druid (BAB +13/+8/+3) wild shapes in to a Dire Wolf. A Dire Wolf only has 1 attack (and gets only 1 attack even as a fill attack action http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/direWolf.htm ). So, since characters keep the BAB when they change, would the druid get 3 attacks or just the 1? (I...

    Wildshape vs Antimagic

That is what I thought. I just wanted to be sure. We have been playing it otherwise based off what he told me (you just stayed in the from you were already in, just couldn't change from).

    Wildshape vs Antimagic

Pretty sure I know the answer, but just wanted to get opinions here. A druid wildshaped into a dire wolf walks into an area with an antimagic field... what happens?

    Does animate = life?

Yeah, I was thinking along of the lines of awaken, if that was needed, ect...

    permanancy

In my game, I've changed Permanency to fit better what I believe it should be (and because it cost XP to do...)- that being if dispelled, it reacts like a magic sword or something similar and is just supressed/muted for a duration before coming back.

    Does animate = life?

At first, that was my take on it, but then more I thought about it- why give it an intelligence (and to a lesser extent charisma) score. Doesn't intelligence denote life (or unlife in the case of the undead)?

    Does animate = life?

Minor Servitor'You imbue an inanimate object with mobility and a semblance of life. The object gains an Intelligence score (roll 3d6) and a Charisma score (roll 1d3) from the spell. Other statistics for animated objects are found in the Monster Manual.' So, if the thing in question has...

D&D 3E/3.5 Coming back to D&D after 15 years.... Vow of poverty problems (3.5)

The more I look at VoP, the more I like the idea of it, but not the implementation. Example- I could see a knight/paladin taking it and keeping his armor/shield/sword. Maybe they were his father/grandfather/mothers, ect- and he has taken the vow to atone for some of his family's past misdeeds...

D&D 3E/3.5 Coming back to D&D after 15 years.... Vow of poverty problems (3.5)

I am reading the books as I can. It's quite an undertaking. I spend the first week or so working on the story and world building. I prefer to build my own worlds and use things like modules and existing material as supplements. There are a number of old modules I want to get my hands on that I...

D&D 3E/3.5 Coming back to D&D after 15 years.... Vow of poverty problems (3.5)

Please, I welcome the comments. I agree completely, and I think Grogg's sig says it perfectly - Awesome trumps rules. Story trumps rules. Role before your roll. There is heavy story and a huge epic story line that I have written out. But it's a fact that combat is a feature of D&D and in the...

D&D 3E/3.5 Coming back to D&D after 15 years.... Vow of poverty problems (3.5)

Actually, everyone but him has been very upfront in asking for/about things. I have said no to him on several things (he was talking about getting hide armor made and I told him no, he's mentioned using someone else's magic item and I've told him no again), as I am getting more comfortable and...

D&D 3E/3.5 Coming back to D&D after 15 years.... Vow of poverty problems (3.5)

Thanks for the feedback. Yeah, I trusted the players (opps) who I thought were a more.... I donno... mature and not so much power gamers anymore. I wish I had found this website/forum before we really got into the game. We've been playing for about 3 months at this point (once- twice a week as...

D&D 3E/3.5 Coming back to D&D after 15 years.... Vow of poverty problems (3.5)

A group of friends convinced me to get back into running a game after 15 years away from D&D (left to play Rolemaster, which I felt had more of what I was looking for in a game). One of the guys in the group is playing a Druid with a wolf animal companion and has taken the Vow of Poverty feat...
