I doubt I’m the first, but I find myself wondering if Xenk is actually a spoof of a DMPC?

Saw it today and enjoyed it quite a bit. I think the weakest bit was the maze, it dragged for me and made little sense as spectator sport. Holga and Edgin were a great pairing, though i wish we could have seen a bit more of Edgin doing bard-y things. Hugh Grant was very good, and Daisy Head...

Thanks for the insight into where this current style came from!

    D&D 5E I can’t seem to DM written adventures.

I still don’t understand why they don’t tag them with the intended difficulty, so that we can easily recalibrate. That’s the weird part. There’s no “design intention“ communicated, it’s all fevered dream fanfic. :)

    D&D 5E I can’t seem to DM written adventures.

My players quickly identified that it’s basically the same story over and over again as they visit a location and, oh dear, once again the leadership has gone crazy and the PCs have to try and sort it out. Add that to the monotony of the environment and, needless to say, we ended up nuking the...

    D&D 5E I can’t seem to DM written adventures.

I’m in the same boat. I’ve come to learn it’s harder to run a published adventure than run one of my own devising. Improvisation is a lot easier when you’re holding the adventure in your head rather than from a page (though notes certainly help!) The last published adventure I ran (Stormwreck) I...

Actually according to the article they deliberately hobbled their new cards for that specific use case, so I guess they've been crypto-skeptics for a while.

Not sure I agree with this revisionist history by the Guardian: There‘s been a significant effort over the past decade (or more) to generalize the massive compute power on GPUs. Initially it was to support physics modeling for games, but eventually it became useable for many different compute...

They create no value. Compare with the AI generative tool craze. The difference is that creates so much value at the click of a button people are genuinely fearing for their jobs (to my mind it’s still an IA tool - Intelligence Augmentation - as it still often needs some guidance and taste, but...

I think producing this kind of content definitely falls under “bull$#!t jobs”, but to also do it and not have it be at least passable just makes it so much worse.

Sounds like they’re trying to apply the economic model from some online games where people play long enough to buy massive spaceships and then sell them to folks who want to have big powerful ships right off the bat. I don’t believe that model will apply. However… just spitballing, but this...
