Sept 11 Evening - USS Gabrielle off the Eastern Seaboard There are 48 crewmen and 35 expedition personnel on board. From the amount of congestion, one might imagine that there were ten times that number. Because of the last-minute preparations after the fire, everything is in great confusion...

[d20CoC] Beyond the Mountains of Madness - Chap 5: At Sea

It is hard to say who popped the first cork, but an hour after departure--as soon as the ship has passed the five-mile limit--the entire group was invited into the Officer's Mess. The room was crowded with shipmates: Father Rucker was there, as was a still-shaking but smiling Martin LeBlanc...

As soon as Øyvind nears the hatch to enter the hold, he hears the nervous barking of the dogs within. As he clmbs down the ladder, he can see them running back and forth in their cages. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Job (the tortured one).

Professor Moore listened intently to Father Rucker, nodding frequently, although occasionally interrupting him to give directions to a passing dockworker. When the priest finished, Moore looked at him for a few long moments and then smiled without really smiling. He reached up and clapped...

A few hours later, Dr. Watkins completes his inventory. Everything appears to be in order; no drugs and supplies are missing. All medical equipment was installed on the ship a week earlier and nothing was damaged. Martin is resting comfortably, although occasionally he moans and writhes in...

[D20 CoC] Beyond the Mountains of Madness Campaign - Recruiting Alternate Players

I was hoping to make some progress yesterday, Sunday 11-May, with some campaign writings, but for some reason I couldn't get into EnWorld all day. Sunday is one of my best days for creative writing projects. I'll do my best to post a few entries during the evenings this week. Job.

May '08 What are you playing?

I finished BioShock. I'm now back playing NWN2 with mods for improved AI, spell fixes, and increased challenge, and all settings on max difficulty. In my initial play sessions about a year ago, I was bored silly because it was just too easy. Now I'm finding it to be a fun challenge! Job.

[d20CoC] Beyond the Mountains of Madness - Chap 5: At Sea

At Last! Because of--or possibly despite--everyone's continuing nervous vigilance, no further incidents interfered with the expedition's preparations for departure. How all of the things that eventually got on board were squeezed in was amazing; for with an unsuspected necromancy, Professor...

We only have a few loose ends to wrap up, a few repairs to make to the ship, and a few supplies to restock, then we'll be bringing chapter 4 to a close. While we're working through this, I'll simultaneously start the next chapter within the week (real time), wherein our expedition departs New...

Her port side midships scorched and blackened, the U.S.S. Gabrielle is towed to a new dock downstream at Pier 66 within an hour. An army of policemen, reporters, and gawkers are on hand to welcome them into their new berth. Once the ship is tied off, both Mr. Starkweather and First Officer...

[D20 CoC] Mountains of Madness - Chap 4: Departure; Recruiting Alternate Players

As Father Rucker approached the crew member, he noticed the man's burned hair and blackened face and hands. The man's hands were trembling and his shoulders shook. The priest could hear him repeating words in a foreign language with a cadence that sounded like prayer: "...orar para nós...
