D&D 5E Removing the bonus action - analysis

You're suggesting alternate words than the OP is using. I'm here for legitimate discussion so don't take this as bashing, but your wording significantly muddies the waters by adding reserved words like 'action' or 'regular action' without reducing any of the abuse of OP's wording. In that case...

D&D 5E Removing the bonus action - analysis

It's not an action. This bring more confusion. I don't mean to be mean, but the wording here is really significantly less clear than RAW all while allowing the abuse cautioned against (multiple dashes per round from monk for example) as your option doesn't prevent other abilities from doing the...

D&D 5E Removing the bonus action - analysis

Perhaps I have. Can you give an example? I think Cunning Action and Ki are the more complicated ones. If you're intending that they can only be used with an Attack action that limits them. For example you couldn't hide and then attack unless you use "immediately before or after" that is used...

D&D 5E Removing the bonus action - analysis

What you're proposing would wipe out much of the utility features of the game. A rogue can't hide and attack anymore? Well then they'll always attack. Cunning action and ki features are there for precisely that reason: to allow the dynamic feeling of mobile characters (Monk and Rogue) while...

    D&D 5E [5e] Modification of -5/+10 Feats

The abuse is rampant on a Barbarian who can give themselves advantage every round. The feat is flawed. In the cases where it is great it is too great. In the cases where it is bad it is quite bad. In all cases it's just a math calculation. As an option it provides a negative experience to games...

D&D 5E Removing the bonus action - analysis

@JValeur thanks so much for making this post, the analysis, and the attached document. I made a similar post on giantitp: Mearls' Bonus Action Removal. Your analysis is great and your perspective on balance seems on point. Some of the changes directly touch the balance of the game and it's nice...

D&D 5E Average Damage by Level

You're welcome. :) factored in for each DPR number. For example on the fighter page chance to hit is line 21, 54, 87, etc. These numbers all take into account the monster manual's AC for that level and many many factors.

Perhaps my DPR of Classes sheet. I've linked the Kills Per Round comparison as that has absolutely values.

    D&D 5E Volo's Guide will be available for Roll20

I am sorry SkidAce. I will cease my derailment immediately. I, for one, was pleased to read the article about Volo going to Roll20. WotC has made many IT blunders in the past and 5e is barely digital at all. This decision bodes well for the future of digital for 5e.

    D&D 5E Volo's Guide will be available for Roll20

A Virtual Tabletop is a consumer facing business. No company in their right mind would choose to limit their market to only PC owners or only Mac owners and probably not even a combination of both. Desktop applications still exist, but very very few consumer based desktop applications are being...

    D&D 5E Volo's Guide will be available for Roll20

Thanks for the praise - not sure if it's from my Shaped sheet work or my spreadsheets, but comments like this feel great - so thanks! You may be surprised to hear that there is next to zero collaboration. They created their own sheet to compete with mine. So you can be sure there is zero bias...

    D&D 5E Volo's Guide will be available for Roll20

It was a usability feature for their previous music provider. Obviously when their music provider cuts their access that feature is lost. That feature is such a small subset of the Pro feature. The vast majority of users who use Pro for a feature is for Dynamic Lightning and API access. I never...

D&D 5E Buffing up Greatweapon fighting style a little

Archery is actually fine when you don't let a feat ignore cover and take advantage of the higher to hit. My houserules where that is the case have archery valued around around 10-14% (results) Dueling.. I have no idea what they were thinking. +3 when not wielding a shield and +1 when wielding...

    D&D 5E Volo's Guide will be available for Roll20

Nonsense. It didn't charge anyone for soundcloud - that was a free service for which it provided some nice usability features attached to their paid account. It has yet to have any difficulty keeping a license from its currently offered products (which is quite a few).

Additionally it would be more balanced across all options (greataxe!!)

I very much disagree. The fighting style's value, DPR, KPR (kills per round) numbers are not satisfactory with your proposed changed. But I won't press the issue. Do as you please.

D&D 5E Buffing up Greatweapon fighting style a little

If you're looking to be comparable to other fighting styles then +1 damage in addition to the normal reroll would bring it to a 12% value which is inline with the 11% durability gained from +1 AC and in line with TWF (~10-15%) and Dueling(~15%). Archery is out of line with 22%. GWF should not...

    D&D 5E Volo's Guide will be available for Roll20

Roll20 didn't have a license for Souncloud. Soundcloud had a public API which they decided to prevent Roll20 from accessing. There was never any legal agreement like there is with WotC's licensing. It's pretty foolish to say these kind of things without having factual information..

D&D 5E Buffing up Greatweapon fighting style a little

By my calculations GWF adds about 7-8% more damage than not having the fighting style. Most other fighting styles are in the 15% range (except archery which is higher). However you're talking about adding +3.5 damage to every attack. At maximum it should be +1 damage, if at all. +3.5 would make...

[Fixing 5E] Saving Throws - Fortitude Reflex Will

Jester David my spreadsheet does exactly that. See https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/17ZeFuwQVvb9DsMseUU8Pb0KxDU7sizhmebp-U7FuzLY/edit#gid=1095279036 It examines all levels.
