Design the Kwisatz Haderach. Paul Atreides

He's a hard one to even pin down. In the books, he's not much more than a very charismatic person who could see the future, and basically the events that could effectively change it. Supposedly he can be in many places at once, bridging space and time... or something. But remember he basically...

    Does a Setting need gods?

For me, and the people I tend to game with, unless the setting has robust gods, they're kinda afterthoughts. Someone might pick a cleric or another Divine class and try play the Proselytizer. Most of the other characters and player don't think about it. The only time I remember gods having...

    Does a Setting need gods?

I mean, I don't want that restriction; since theoretically, Belief alone will work with a Cleric, Paladin, or Avenger. But, I was just wondering. I read the nifty preview of Vakeshi Mystic, and there's a large section of how a death of a god pretty much messed with an entire race/nation. I...

    Does a Setting need gods?

So I'm in the middle creating my own campaign setting; it's been an ongoing project for a few years now... but reading through many of the RPG products, especially from this fine site, does a setting need Gods? Dark Sun doesn't particularly seem to have any, but they have replacement "gods" as...

    Minor Action (save ends)?

In a way it's quite redundant. Save ends is already a feature that gives a duration, sustain minor is also a feature that gives duration. So having both on the same duration line is just weird, and wasteful for the caster. The new version, where it's a save ends with the caveat of a minor...

    The Specialist Class

This class is the Specialist; it's a leader/controller. I wanted it first to be a leader striker, but the powers and the effects all lend themselves to being a controller secondary in the end. The Specialist In way, it's closest analog is the Artificer, but has no infusions; it's much closer...

    Some token sheets for you.

That sounds rather intensive, but not anymore so than anything else. Thanks.

    So, What's the Controller's 'Thing'?

Yeah, I miss counted the squares on a Close Burst 1. But otherwise, I think terrain control is or target action denial contend for second most likely ability. The only reason I even rate target action denial as a vague third is because leaders can effectively do the same thing, as can...

    Some token sheets for you.

Cool, might do that. Anyway to make some myself?

    Some token sheets for you.

How big do the token print?

    So, What's the Controller's 'Thing'?

Controllers do two things well, I think. 1) Deal damage to multiple enemies, consistently and often at range. 2) Change the battlefield. They also do a third thing which is ultimately more vague. 3) Target Action Denial Target Action Denial tends to happen with lots of powers in all classes...

    Alchemical item bonus to hit

At "Your level +5" it removes the need to add more bonuses as they level, as the attack bonus will scale with the user. So a level 30 fighter can use a level 1 alchemist's fire flask, and still be about right with his other attacks, except for the damage. Class powers are clearly superior to...

    Alchemical item bonus to hit

I think it might be prudent to just change anything with a static bonus to: "Your level +5 vs. X", it slightly edges out companions' attack bonus of level + 4, but expertise should probably be built into it. It fixes most gripes with accuracy. It doesn't on the other hand fix the damage.

    D&D 4E 4e Keyword fixes - please discuss

So how would you rule that? If a creature has Immunity Cold, it's hit with a Necrotic/Cold attack, the damage is inherently cold and necrotic. Is it half damage? Does it take full damage? No damage? It's actually a question I never wondered about until now. But how does it work? I guess his...

How do you feel about the only-general-feats direction of D&D?

I liked racial feats that made being that race more awesome. Things like Eladrin Warrior, Dwarf whatever it was, and feats like that - I felt as though it made them more Eladrin-y or Dwarf-y cause it plays to fluff and perceived notions of those races. I felt that it gave some reinforcement of...

    Heroes of Unlikely Places (Hopefully?)

Who was the main writer for Eberron? I know it's the newest setting actually made into DnD, as other settings are at least a decade old. I just feel that this whole retro thing is kinda stopping any "new" and recent settings form being developed. Something of a reaction to how many of the fans...

    Heroes of Unlikely Places (Hopefully?)

I dunno, I'm one of those atypical story tellers/writers... I'd love to have more atypical races for one simple reason: You can then make any campaign setting you want. You can have a "bizarro" world where the elves are crazy bloodthirsty hedonists that terrorize the noble goblin nations. The...

    Are Superior Weapons "worth it"?

Superior Weapons are a must for anyone that relies on multiple [W]'s, it's the simplest way to boost damage; also many superior weapons have nifty properties, or trade in that damage boost for an accuracy boost; that extra 5%, while is harder to notice, does considerably more than 1.5 points per...

    The Gatekeeper: A Psionic Defender

Change log 5/19/2011 Level 1 Pressure Vault Aura named changed to Volt Mark - Change Effect line to "Creatures in Burst are marked until the end of your next turn." Arcing Lock - Changed trigger to "Marked enemy within 3 squares, shifts, or teleports to a square away from you or adjacent to an...

    The Gatekeeper: A Psionic Defender

Thanks. Okay, I'll look up the Warden some more; I figured toning it down to a burst 1 would be sufficient, but the reduced movement thing was a little too good. I figured if it lasted less time, like "until beginning of next turn", two things would happen: 1) Arcing lock would only happen in...
