Could be different parts of the contract. Hard to say without seeing the actual contract.

Judges Guild Makes Statement About Goodman Controversy [Updated]

See my above post. I definitely agree that it is a questionable decision to sign something of that nature. Maybe there is some morally-questionable reason on the part of Goodman. Factually, I cannot say 100% whether there is or not. However, I can verify the existence of one-sided NDAs...

Below will be some examples. The examples are just from this thread; I can sift through the other threads if you honestly want me to do so, but that will take some time. Note that, in most cases, I have not directly quoted the posters because I do not want to be bated into some accusation that...

Judges Guild Makes Statement About Goodman Controversy [Updated]

That's a lot of buzzwords, but none of them apply to me. There are people who have listed all the negatives about Bledsaw but then also have expressed that he should be believed over other conflicting statements. At no point have I shown a lack of courage -even when you were trying to bate me...

Judges Guild Makes Statement About Goodman Controversy [Updated]

Valid points and an understandable point of view. What's odd to me is that the community has expressed that Bledsaw is a crooked businessman who has jipped people out of money while also engaging in a glutinous buffet of bigotry, but now he is also held up as an avatar of honesty who should be...

Judges Guild Makes Statement About Goodman Controversy [Updated]

I can agree that signing such an agreement may have been a poor decision. On the other hand, I do not think it is a unique thing that someone signs or agrees to something without taking the time to fully understand it.

@The Firebird is correct though. A 2020 statement about not having plans is not contradicted by a statement made in 2022. If Joseph Goodman is capable of communicating in a way that occurs in non-euclidean time, that has not yet been revealed in the YouTube statements.

All of that is possible. Depends on the details of the contract and the clause. In the past, I was asked to sign NDAs related to my former career. Legally, I could be held liable for breaking the NDAs. However, the employer did not share the same liability. Oddly, that meant that -even in a...

"The contracts have confidentiality clauses so I’m quite limited in what I can say. But in short…the information you emailed about is incorrect. I think it’s best if Goodman Games speaks for what Goodman Games is doing. And Goodman Games is definitely not doing Dungeoneer." ~quoted from what was...

    Worlds of Design: Battle Maneuvers

Depends upon the game and the in-game time period. However, FM 7-8 is a good place to start. "The mission of the infantry is to close with the enemy by means of fire and maneuver to defeat or capture him, or to repel his assault by fire, close combat, and counterattack."

Goodman Games Revives Relationship With Anti-Semitic Publisher For New City State Kickstarter [UPDATED]

Misery loves company. Some people have the attitude that they shouldn't be alone in ruin and will take people down with them -especially those who are perceived to have slighted the perpetrator. 🤷‍♂️ Successfully slaying a perceived "liberal game company" by turning the "woke" mob against itself.

Goodman Games Revives Relationship With Anti-Semitic Publisher For New City State Kickstarter [UPDATED]

According to the Bledsaw Facebook statement, he was planning to work with Jennell Jaquays (had she not passed). I'm not sure that I know what to think about that or how that would have been perceived by the community had it actually happened. Supposedly, the GG version would have happened...

Alternatively, it could be the case that the person with whom the contractual obligations were made has a history of questionable behavior and would think nothing of legally fleecing Goodman Games so as to resolve financial problems that they (the other party) may have. I have no evidence of...

It could be that he's trying to be pro-active and plan for what happens if somehow there is money leftover. "Hey, X is our plan to avoid giving money to JG. If some unforeseen circumstance leads to X not 100% working, we will take step Y to mitigate that unforeseen circumstance." I would...

How Long Do You Wait Before You Houserule a New TTRPG?

Usually after 1 campaign. "After a few adventures," I will likely take note of things that work differently at the table than I thought they would from reading the game. If there is something that drastically conflicts with the expected experience of the gaming group, I may discuss (with the...

    An examination of player agency

In the past, I have been very critical of 4E. There are still things about it that bug me, but there are also things that it did well. My best experiences with 4E came from 1) throwing out the advertised idea of "ze game will remain ze same" and 2) largely ignoring a lot of "official" advice...

    An examination of player agency

As the conversation has progressed, I feel that it makes more sense to me. I appreciate that an actual discussion is taking place. In regards, to the topic, I ponder if how the rules are structured and expressed can create something akin to "unknown rules" via which player agency is removed...

    An examination of player agency

For me, the disconnect is/was that some games that I play are neither 'a' nor 'b'. Some don't even use XP or levels in the way that D&D does. As such, they don't map very well to that dichotomy or the ideas being discussed. However, they are still identifiably games with player agency.

    An examination of player agency

Reading through the OP a second time, I think that I somewhat agree with the end point and maybe the overall idea that is being presented. I'm just not sure that I fully follow the path taken to get there. Edit: I agree with being wary of opaque processes. A while back, I had a discussion with...
