    General DCC RPG thread

I'm between campaigns at the moment. While I'm running RuneQuest for a friend, I'm preparing to run the DCC conversion of Dark Tower; I missed the kickstarter but I was able to snag the set of books from an FLGS.

GMs - what is your vetting process for finding new players?

I don't have anything terribly formal, as it's something that's going to vary depending on the specific system being used, the group and its dynamic, my feeling for the potential player, etc. But, broadly speaking: I'll ask about the player's background, what games (if any) they have played...

Should a TTRPG have a singular Core Rulebook or more?

Voted "Something else" because I don't have a one-size-fits-all answer. Some games work well in a single volume -- or even a single page -- while others work best with three volumes. It's whatever serves the game best. I will say though that I have a soft-spot in my heart for boxed sets, but...

DCC Level 0 Character Funnel is a Bad Concept

I really wish I could remember who had this idea originally so I could credit them, but I cannot. In any event, I've done this a number of times when running a DCC funnel and it worked really well: First, I start with the Purple Sorcerer 0-Level Party Generator, printing the resulting PDFs on...

What RPG do you most regret parting with?

Easily Dungeons and Dragons, mostly AD&1e, but I also had the Basic and Expert boxed sets and some B/X modules. For AD&D1e I had all the hardcovers, a bunch of modules, Dragon issues, issues of some other magazines that covered D&D ... just a ton of stuff. But this was the 80's, the era of the...

    General DCC RPG thread

Personally, if I were going to do a DCC Thundarr game or anything along the gonzo sci-fantasy line, I’d start with The Umerican Survival Guide. I love all the Umerican stuff, and it’s gonzo enough to do Thundarr justice.

Where i share my experiences with DCC (as a noob)

Also from Purple Sorcerer, check out the Crawler’s Companion. It’s a very handy tool with a number of features including easy rolling on crit tables:

How do you store and carry your dice?

I use an AllRolledUp: It holds pens and pencils, 5 full sets of DCC dice, some dry erase cards, and a dice tray:

Satanic Panic of the late 80's

Oof! Yeah, I got hit with it in the 80's. Basically, some relatives of mine who literally lived on a Bible camp came to our house and told my Dad a bunch of lies about D&D. I tried to argue against it, tried to ask for specifics, for proof. But, hey, you know the type; they weren't real big on...

My Game Is In Trouble :(

I once spent way too long running a campaign I had no interest in for players who loved it. I wound up burning out so hard I very nearly quit the hobby entirely. So I would say if you can adjust your style/campaign to something that better suits your group, and you would enjoy that campaign...

Blades in the Dark Goes ‘Punk in Hack The Planet

This sounds like an interesting take on the cyberpunk genre. The last thing I need is something else to back on Kickstarter, but ... yeah, I'll be backing this.

Blades in the Dark Goes ‘Punk in Hack The Planet

Oh, please, everyone knows this so-called "secret world government" is just a front for the reptilians from Alpha Draconis who really run the world from the hidden underground bases. Wake up!
