D&D General For the Love of Greyhawk: Why People Still Fight to Preserve Greyhawk

I am not getting into Eternal Champion lore and how it might translate to D&D (poorly) in this thread.

    D&D 4E Am I crazy? I've just gotten a hankering to play 4e again...

I started working on it, step 1 was removing the +1/2 level shenanigans and incorporating the Inherent Bonus deal from the DMG 2 (I just made it +1 per 5 levels). I thought a 3 (The Magic Number) part process for class selection would be fun, and the permutations within. So a Martial Striker...

    D&D 5E Going from 1st to 5th Edition

Hobbits can get an 18 Str?!

    D&D 4E Am I crazy? I've just gotten a hankering to play 4e again...

Yes, half-baked (as is 5th Ed), the AEDU was not part of the plan for all classes, and I think Powers should have been grouped by Source, not Class. 1) Choose Role 2) Choose Power Source 3) Choose Build

There you have it (mine is currently packed away).

D&D General For the Love of Greyhawk: Why People Still Fight to Preserve Greyhawk

Again, no, they were left in the 1st Ed reprint, and the later retitled Legends & Lore; I am thinking of Lankhmar: City of Adventure or something.

    D&D 5E What's your favourite pantheon?

Fictional: Melnibonean (1st Ed Deities & Demigods). Real World: Can't decide (I love them all), every day the answer would change (today, Egyptian, because I am again perusing the rules and images for the kickstarter boardgame I backed called Ankh).

D&D General For the Love of Greyhawk: Why People Still Fight to Preserve Greyhawk

Maybe a 2nd Ed iteration, I will check when I can dig in. Deities & Demigods is my favourite D&D book of all time (of course the Cthulhu/Melnibonean one), but some of the classes and levels they assign to heroes is outrageous. I mean Elric is: Assassin 10/Cleric 10/Druid 5/Fighter...

Besides D&D, what are you playing?

Boardgames. I picked up the Dune boardgame (marvellous) on a whim last December (rare for me), and was like, where have you been all my life. As I have been disillusioned with the direction of 5th Ed since release (love the debut), I find my interest wandering, so am totally back into BGs (so...

D&D General For the Love of Greyhawk: Why People Still Fight to Preserve Greyhawk

    No he doesn't, he's a Bard 5/Ranger 15/Thief 13.

D&D General For the Love of Greyhawk: Why People Still Fight to Preserve Greyhawk

Yep, and contributed to one of the best D&D books of all time: Fiendish Codex I: Hordes of the Abyss. He really brought back the classic D&D/Greyhawk lore and vibe with that one. I really wish he had been in on PF2 design (I do not reckon Jason Bulmahn, and actively avoid all Logan Bonner...

    Ranking the (Non-Animated) Film Batmans!

They have yet to come close to casting Batman well. Seems almost impossible; Ben Affleck is probably the closest, physically (Bruce is a big guy), but his performance and material to work with have been lacking so far. Adam West had the best face for Bruce (in the mask).

What are you reading this year 2020?

The Culture of Narcissism by Christopher Lasch. Explains a lot of of what has gone wrong in the last 60 years or so.

    D&D 5E (Tasha's) Decoupling racial abilities--cautionary tale

Yes, I have houseruled back in the class ability score increase from the playtest, so a High Elf Fighter would start with: Elf Ability Score Increase: Your Dexterity score increases by 1 High Elf Ability Score Increase: Your Intelligence score increases by 1 Fighter Ability Score Increase...

D&D 5E Kate Welch on Leaving WotC

I was not thrilled with the initial hire, or the contributions/work since, but I wish her well.

D&D 5E D&D Inclusivity for People with Disabilities

That looks very cool, thanks, but I'm not sure if it's the same one (I will investigate!).

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana: Spirits Bard and Undeath Warlock

That seems a silly diversion and childish attempt to have the last word in order to dodge the fact that cloying attempts to come off as virtuous and inclusive while undermining religious peoples is not very virtuous or inclusive.

D&D 5E D&D Inclusivity for People with Disabilities

Yeah, there is an old Wuxia movie with the lead characters being two brothers, one with no arms, one with no legs, they proceed to kick the crap out of everyone.

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana: Spirits Bard and Undeath Warlock

Really, really not, as is plain to see (except for the usual cheerleaders).
