Design Space - What are the biggest gaps in 4th Edition?

I'm inclined to agree that blanket rules for noncombat things like what we're describing would be a problem. There's a right time to make Securing a Discount on Stone a part of an adventure and a challenge, and there's a time to let it be something that passes quietly. What I would like to see...

@ AbdulAlhazred, I had not seen this. Thank you for linking it. =) Haven

Design Space - What are the biggest gaps in 4th Edition?

I'm convinced that a wider variety of terrain powers, including terrain powers that are just for monsters and ones that relate to fantastic terrain (and not just dungeon dressing) are an area where a lot more design could take place. I've just completed a post about this in my blog, in fact. 4e...

    3/14 Rule of Three

Stop me if I'm wrong, but didn't the D&D department of WotC get stripped down to more or less a skeleton crew? If they've correspondingly slipped in their schedule and been forced to release much less content, it's hardly surprising. While manpower is no guarantee of a large amount of high...

Sagiro's Story Hour: The FINAL Adventures of Abernathy's Company (FINISHED 7/3/14)

My experience with struggling to be a good player and not a jerk (this is not easy for me) is that no matter how much I trust and respect the GM, it is hard to keep perspective when the character and party I care about is getting nailed to the wall by a plan gone awry. A few days after the fact...

    Aeon (updated 10/9/14)

I, for one, very much appreciate the re-stating of ideas and conflicts by Baron Opal and Cheiromancer. This is tough stuff, and I'm not ashamed to admit it. :) I'm also thrilled to see a new update! Haven

A Rose In The Wind: A Saga of the Halmae -- Updated June 19, 2014

Yay, update! Out of curiosity, was this a skill challenge to stop Rose from despairing? Haven

What are you playing that is NOT D&D?

In addition to 4e, Pathfinder, and AE, I am also playing Pendragon, Spirit of the Century, Song of Ice and Fire, and Earthdawn 3e. Trail of Cthulhu and Chaosium's CoC have also shown up relatively recently for a limited engagement. We tried out WHFRP 3e and liked it, but haven't played it again...

    Where Do You Game?

Five of my six players and I work for the same company, so we use one of the company's conference rooms after work hours or on weekends. The huge tables and lots of chairs are great for tabletop gaming and board gaming. Also makes it very easy to be on time for games after work! Haven

Arcanis: Gonnes, Sons, and Treasure Runs (COMPLETED)

I will definitely check out that SH next. As it happens, I looked down at the author of the RPG.net column I was reading today, and discovered that I had been enjoying your writing for some months now, rather than about a week. She is - and the King in Yellow is moreover a particular interest...

Arcanis: Gonnes, Sons, and Treasure Runs (COMPLETED)

I'm still only about halfway through the Story Hour, but I wanted to let you know that my girlfriend and I are really, really enjoying it. Keep up the great work! Haven

The Jester, that raises an important question. What do you do about a problem like T'Cri Dranko? Haven

    OotS #663 up

Personally, I expect to see the Dark Powers start their limited-term control over V in three strips. I expect them to use this control to screw the Order (or just the Azurites) over in the worst way imaginable. Haven

    OotS #658 is up!

O-Chul is, in fact, the Man. I mean, seriously. Here is a guy who has never lost sight of his goal or what it might cost him to accomplish that. So, so incredible. Hats off to Rich Burlew for making an unswerving, hardline good guy into such a likable character. Haven

    OoTS 655

One-eyed goblins? That sounds like a bizarre form of Black Company pun. (I don't think that's what Rich had in mind, but it's what I think of.) Haven

    Resourceful Presence

I haven't done too much backtracking to see if it's already been discussed, but... is there some sense in which Resourceful Presence from Martial Power isn't completely, ridiculously overpowered (after feat enhancement, in particular)? As written, the resourceful warlord in my party is granting...

Summer Gaming Report: What Are You Playing?

Currently active or pseudo-active: D&D 4e (incl. PHB II) Arcana Evolved Pendragon Earthdawn (on hiatus, waiting for new rules releases) nWoD A Song of Ice and Fire RPG ...maybe we'll finish that Trail of Cthulhu game someday? Not holding my breath here. Haven
