    D&D 5E Is Conan in 5e?

While I really loved the [Mongoose Conan] game overall (played a Stygian Borderer/Noble), this DR element made fights pretty grindy. I remember the climactic battle with cultists being a case of "3 damage", "2 damage", "3 damage". It just went on and on. Kind of like fighting zombies in 3.5e.

D&D 5E Monk and Druid "reviews"

Tempting. I have set myself up as an urchin who had a reputation as a spirit of the city. Using stealth to sleight of hand hand-carved wooden toys to poor families. He was rescued by a monastery when the mayor cleaned up the streets of riffraff. Kind of fits my character being a shadowy sneak...

Whenever someone casts Moonbeam, I play "Dancing Queen" by Abba.

D&D 5E Monk and Druid "reviews"

With necromancy, there's no need to beat a dead horse. You can raise it, mount it and ride it hard into the ground! Re: minor illusion. Care to share? What sort of things have you successfully used MI for? I'm starting a monk and am torn between Open Hand and Shadow.

D&D 5E Is it worth taking damage in order to do your stuff?

    Thanks! A subtlety I missed.

D&D 5E Is it worth taking damage in order to do your stuff?

Did the rogue even know the spell was there? I assume he perceived the camouflaged spikes... spikes don't pop up, they look just like the floor. I'm surprised so many people saw them! The rogue could have climbed around the stairwell walls or something. Not wanting to run across a floor of...

D&D 5E Monk and Druid "reviews"

Sorry, my fault. I came here from google, not the forums. Didn't even look at the dates!

D&D 5E Monk and Druid "reviews"

Agreed. Concentration continues, so does the spell effect. Bear skin hardens. I've seen various moon druids in action at low level only. Wild shape seems to be used for more utility from what I've seen. I think the two most popular forms have been Dire Wolf (speed and nasty bite) and Spider...

D&D 5E Signs that you've been adventuring too long

    18. You have already brought peace and genocide of dozens of species to the land. You spend your mountainous hoard of gold on commissioning new dungeons to be built and populated by the experiments of crazed wizards (on staff) so you can still go on regular crawls. 19. Your depredations on the...

D&D 5E Arcane Rules- What is your favorite "hidden" rule in 5e?

Thieves' Tools mentions that those proficient can add Prof. Bonus to disarm traps and open locks (implying that anyone can try to do these activities with the tools even without proficiency). Under "Lock" in equipment, however, it says that "creatures proficient in Thieves' Tools" can pick the...

    D&D 5E Werewolves/rats and damage immunity

I'm in the "don't specially provide for the party" camp. A PC might have knowledge of such creatures (Nature check or something), or research it and the party could benefit from this intelligence by being prepared. I like the idea that unusual tactics or equipment might be required (like a net...

D&D 5E Which monsters have the most exciting powers?

I kind of like burrowers (e.g bulette, umber hulks, anhkhegs, xorn) . You're never quite sure where they'll emerge. Sure...ready actions are a bit of a problem, but I just like the terror they instill in players - and the extant threat of being dragged underground to suffocate!

    Alternate Ranger (simple)

The spells... do you think their absence makes up for having two archetypes worth of power? Do the two archetypes synergise well?Serious questions here. I'm intrigued and it sounds like you have already done some groundwork. Seems like you have folded spells into the package (FE bonus = Hunter's...

    D&D 5E What If?

Sounds like you guys need to play some 3.5e! ;) Concentration, Adv/DisAdv, death saves (not negative hp tracking), capped Ability Scores, different build rules for PC/monsters, limited attunement to magic items, reduced book-keeping... these are the hallmarks of a re-designed game that works...

    D&D 5E pitch an idea

Apart from simple expansion (PHB2, MM2), maybe a Book of Fey. I often think these guys are very intriguing, but under-utilised. I think a fey-based campaign could be quite a change of pace.

    D&D 5E Converting Psionics to 5e?

I have to say, Morlock, you certainly are an affable chap. It seems like we are all trying to dissuade you from your goal! :o Good catch on the Jedi-as-psion. How could I overlook that. Out of interest, did you ever encounter 2e D&D psionics? Now that was a unique system. So, you are looking...

    D&D 5E Converting Psionics to 5e?

Honestly, I think d20 psionics was just magic refluffed. What is so unique about it that it can't be folded into the existing spell system? When I think of examples of the psychically endowed in film and literature (I'm going off the top of my head right now)... Firestarter: pyrokineticist...

    D&D 5E What's your favorite race/class combination?

I'm just glad that 5e lets you have unusual combos without feeling that you've gimped yourself too much. Half-orc warlocks are good to go! That said, I love the idea of a high elf paladin or fighter, though I've never played one. Just like the image.
