    Revised XP progression

LOL...I read xkcd too. But one reason I put the Enc/Lvl numbers on the 10M version was so that it was obvious it'd take much longer; then the 5M and 2M versions in the PDF seem quick by comparison. It's interesting how times change, though. What I've posted should remind some folks a lot of...

    Revised XP progression

(Why do people who aren't interested imagine that it's necessary to say so, instead of just shrugging and moving on? Reminds me of my wife, who believes that everyone is entitled to an opinion, so she makes sure the one they get is hers. Obviously, this isn't an option for everyone, but I...

    Revised XP progression

v1.1, with even more campaign-altering goodness, now uploaded; see top post.

    Magic Item pricer

Don't know if anyone's done this yet, but if there are any of you out there who've looked at the magic item prices and wondered what someone was smoking (especially if you're thinking of running a campaign where money does not flow like water or get dropped like fall leaves), then here's a...

    Revised XP progression

Hmmm. Ambitious, but we'll see if I can pull any thoughts out of nearly 29 years of GMing. I've attached a PDF to the first post; it isn't fancy, but it's convenient. I'll worry about fancy when I have time. The half-level is an interesting thought, sort of a chance to do a remix a little...

    Revised XP progression

Oh, I understand how much I'm stretching things (though as noted above, I also throw in bonus XP for other things, and then there are quest XP and such). A good part of it is getting away from the mad dash...if the campaign isn't interesting enough to motivate the players to something other...

    Revised XP progression

I thought about that, but: The numbers are a lot simpler if you don't cut XP rewards, and I wanted to really alter the progression at the higher levels, and merely cutting XP rewards wouldn't do that.

    4th Edition Bard

I always thought the main danger would be that it would be used to strangle the bard.

Central NJ - looking for 4ed D&D players

And for further entertainment (though be aware that there is MUCH to be added, and perhaps changed): Shadows over the Northlands

Central NJ - looking for 4ed D&D players

Just as further teaser, here's a link to an overview map of the planned campaign: Northlands Map

Technomagicon: Craft Skill (v2) & Ordinary People (v4) [Updated 06Jul08]

Fascinating addition, though on page 4 I'm looking at the "Era" list and the examples under "Out of Time" and having a little trouble finding matching names. Electrical Age? Star Age? Steam Age?

Stalker0's Obsidian Skill Challenge System (Update: Version 1.1) Now with PDF!!

I've used OpenOffice to create a very rough PDF version of this system, but unfortunately it seems I can't send the file to Stalker0, and I haven't anywhere to put it up myself. Stalker0, if you'll get in touch...

    Revised XP progression

One other point that is likely less than obvious: you can also use the same total values for the treasure parcels; as levels go up, you subdivide the total into more pieces to reflect the longer amount of time it'll take to gain the next level. Thus, rather than gaining vast treasures in no...

    Revised XP progression

Yep, this is along the lines of what I'd thought of. For my part, I prefer to run longer campaigns, as I usually use a world of my own devising and it's just more fun to put the time into expanding on it. As to new toons and toys, I also enjoy letting players run alts and level them up too...

    Revised XP progression

See bottom of post for PDF of XP table Version 1.1 update, 7/2/08, now with advice on altering treasure rates One of the things that's itching me the more I think about it is the rush to endgame that I see on the experience tables. Granted, I'm originally from the Old School, but it seems to...

Central NJ - looking for 4ed D&D players

The plan at this point was for me to host in Toms River (I've done the traveling GM bit, and it doesn't always work well).

Excellent...anybody else interested in a piece of the action?

MMORPGs, what D&D players SHOULD learn from them

I expect it'll depend quite a bit on the GM, whose ability to run coordinated opponent groups will have quite an influence on just how much work the PCs need to do to overcome them. If there's a big imbalance in tactical skills between GM and players, it'll show in the fights being either too...

D&D 4E (Poll for those buying 4ed only!) How old are you?

44, started playing in '79 with the Basic Set, and have played most of the incarnations (3.5 being the exception), along with a variety of other games. Or GMed, I should say...I enjoy running a lot more than playing.

Central NJ - looking for 4ed D&D players

I'm an experienced GM looking for people in the Toms River, NJ area who are interested in giving 4ed a shot. I'd prefer mature players, and my free time right now is Saturday nights and Sundays. I'm going to be running a campaign in my own setting (though I'm borrowing some elements from the...
