D&D 4E What was Paizo thinking? 3.75 the 4E clone?

To me they're the same thing. Good adventures are just as important as game mechanics (if not more so).

D&D 4E What was Paizo thinking? 3.75 the 4E clone?

Glad I could help! Seriously though, All my favorite designers write adventures for Paizo. So for me, it's kind of a no brainer to keep buying Paizo stuff and to play the system that supports their stuff. If I picked up 4E, it would only due to brand name recognition, because I'm not familiar...

D&D 4E What was Paizo thinking? 3.75 the 4E clone?

Paizo has the most talented adventure writers in the RPG biz right now. While WOTC has the most popular brand name in the biz right now. Talent or a brand name? Which is more important to me as a consumer? Hmmmm. Tough choice.

Pathfinder 1E PPP (Post Pathfinder Poll)

Well, my group is off their 4.0 flirtation and firmly in the Pathfinder camp. It's nice not to be concerned with what system I'll be running my next AP. Sweet relief.

    I'n a little concerned...

This helped me a lot with reconciling some potential rules vs. imagination problems I was having with 4E combat. So thanks. I'm a bit more optimistic now.

    D&D 4E Anyone know a Pro-4e site?

I get a lot of milage out of the Paizo messageboards. There are a lot of friendly, smart people there. Designers and fans alike. I don't see why you feel the need to insult them.

D&D 4E Vote for your favorite 4E PHB cover!

I voted for the first two. Because D&D isn't about fighting dragons in dungeons. It's about just standing there. And posing.

    Ampersand: Sneak Attack

No more random hit points. Truly this a day that will live in infamy. D&D just became a little more sterile and a little less fun. Oh well, at least I like the more limited weapon prof. and skill lists. The more limits that are placed on player's characters the more 4E seems like 1E to me. And...

The Best & Worst of 3rd Edition: Ultimate 3E: Unearthed Arcana, Eberron, Pathfinder

I've read all of these. Pathfinder wins hands down. It's not even a contest. If Ptolus was still in the running I might've had to think about the answer a bit before I picked Pathfinder.

    Instance of Wizard healing reported

That's the one. Unless I'm mistaken (and my players are cheating) with UMD, any character can already cast healing spells.

    Instance of Wizard healing reported

Wizards can already cast healing spells in 3.5. If they can do it in 4th, it won't be a big deal.

    1/2 elves lost their feyness

They probably kept them in because their market research indicated that people like them. As a DM, I always like seeing players pick half elfs to play. Part of the reason for this is because they're mechanically weak. If a player chooses to play a half elf, you know they're doing it for...

    D&D 4E 1/2 Orcs in 4E (Rich Baker scoop)

    Double post. My bad.

    D&D 4E 1/2 Orcs in 4E (Rich Baker scoop)

Yeah. Let's get rid of Dragons too. And elves. Swords are stupid. Let's replace those with Laser Guns. And I don't like horses either. Let's rplace horses with spaceships. There. Now D&D is perfect.

Rich Baker on the Points of Light Setting.

You do if your players like gnomes. Like mine do.

Rich Baker on the Points of Light Setting.

In the 1E DMG (also, to a lesser extent in the 2E & 3E DMGs). It's an excellent sourcebook if you want to create and run your own settings. I highly recommend it. It's a very fun read.

Rich Baker on the Points of Light Setting.

Sorry about that. If every game I ever ran or played in was like that, I'd quickly lose interest in D&D. One of the main things I've always appreciated about D&D is that there it was more of a toolkit to create my own fantasy setting. The more 4.0 moves away from that, the less it appeals to me.

D&D 4E Rich Baker on Gnomes in 4E

"Don't worry, if you want to keep gnomes in your long running campaign all you have to do is shell out another 35 bucks for our Forgotten Realms book or subscribe to our ridiculously overpriced and unreliable DI." Weak.

Are you interested in kid friendly products?

I got no beef with G rated D&D products. I'd just never buy them, personally. I game with grownups pretty much exclusively.
