DM's Guild: One Week In - The Best & The Worst

I believe that there are a number of ways to look at "pay what you want": this is a product from a new designer the designer is not seeking monetary compensation the designer is not seeking any compensation the product is known by the designer to be low-quality Sometimes a designer will post...

D&D 5E DM's Guild: What caught your eye, and why did you buy it?

Hey folks - I'm no design major or anything, but I've been playing with cover art options and interior layout choices. I've found that I'm initially pulled to projects with artwork or imagery that is iconic for (or strongly indicative of) the included content, though overall I'm of the mindset...

    Exclusive Adventures for DnDAL

Agreed - travel can be prohibitive, for sure. Send me or Skerritt a PM with details once you hash out your budget? I have a feeling that we may be your easier targets on this.

    why no Warforged

At this time we do not have plans to use the Warforged race in any D&D Adventurers League content. But who knows, things may change some day... I mean, hey, we've got Ravenloft now! :) (maaaaan, I went like 18 months without seeing a "warforged in Forgotten Realms" thread... haha)

Season 4 Curse of Strahd and Adventurers League

This has all been a long time coming - like Greg mentioned, we've known for about a year and a half and it's AWESOME that we can finally talk about it! I've been really pleased with the work from our adventure designers so far on season 4, and I'm thinking that you'll all be keen on the final...

Quick update -- in addition to a plethora of play options for the AO series (Author Only; formerly known as Admin Only) at Winter Fantasy... I'll be at TotalCon in February running DDAO-01: Window to the Past! Come on out and join us. Lots of great games across a number of systems being run...

Can confirm, interesting stuff coming soon! (we'll all be talking about things Thursday, I'd imagine)

I'm assuming that I'm not alone in this... but can you share some more information about the show? I'm not familiar.

    Exclusive Adventures for DnDAL

Thanks for the feedback thus far, folks - it's incredibly helpful. We're aware that people are craving more content (this is no surprise), but I also wanted to take a moment to say that there are some regional conventions that have reached out to several of the admins and asked for our...

    Exclusive Adventures for DnDAL

CahPahkah, I don't think we're seeing eye-to-eye here. Hopefully this helps? The example you're using in which a designer is paid to create content then pays to attend the convention so that they can run their adventure, isn't the model we're looking at. If we're gonna pay a designer, we want...

    Exclusive Adventures for DnDAL

Sorry to hear you feel that way, steppedonad4. In our discussions so far (this concept has actually been forming for the better part of a year now) it's been really well received, both by local game stores as well as convention organizers. In fact, my local shops and DMs that raised similar...

DM Encounter Flexibility for Published Adventures

As you proceed through the retail adventures (Out of the Abyss, Princes of the Apocalypse, etc) it's completely feasible that the enemies will be intelligent enough to not only know that the characters are coming for them, but also to adjust their defenses. I'm not endorsing wholesale rewrites...

SCAG: Purple Dragon Knight background restricted?

While it does say "Restriction: Knighthood" in the class writeup, nowhere in that writeup does it say anything about restricting backgrounds or other options. The very phrase itself leads to some discussion between players and DMs, but AL play is *** NOT *** focused on limiting your options...

Is there a way to get a Kelemvor Cert?

I wish I could, but alas - I no longer live in Boston, so the drive to Connecticut isn't very convenient. Now, if they're interested in helping with travel arrangements they could always reach out to an admin... ;)

Is there a way to get a Kelemvor Cert?

You know, depending on where you're located... admins can be convinced to come out to events local to you! I hit up my local gaming stores (inside of about a 50 mile radius) every so often, and I do my best to attend as many local events as possible. For remote stuff - say, outside of Michigan...

What are your favorite OP adventure types?

thanks for the responses so far, all - please keep 'em coming! I'm primarily looking for content-related comments more than crunch-related comments at this time. The discussion on the number and difficulty of encounters is VERY interesting stuff, and I'll be sure to send Travis this way to...

    SCAG Thread

Players will be responsible for reading and knowing the Player's Guide as it is revised each season. The PG will clearly indicate the allowable resources for new characters at that time, as well as the rules for creating characters using other/older story origins.

    SCAG Legality is Posted

Not afraid of them, but they can quickly unbalance encounter design. Many of the adventures are lethal enough already without our designers having to incorporate all those unneeded hurdles. Plus.... they're just creepy. ;)
