D&D 5E Mike Mearls interview - states that they may be getting off of the 2 AP/year train.

That would be brilliant! If they printed a "Best of DM's Guild" or something, it'd be like the old days of Dungeon without a physical slush pile. They could just sift through the top-rated adventures and select those of appropriate length or theme. In fact, that'd be a great way for them to...

D&D 5E Mike Mearls interview - states that they may be getting off of the 2 AP/year train.

Huh. Guess their advertising to fill at least one of those positions on Wizards.com is a fluke, then. ;) That's sarcastic, but it's true: There's a store rep job open now in Germany. Not at the stores I've been to in the past two years. They've got plenty of configurable shelf space, as well...

D&D 5E Mike Mearls interview - states that they may be getting off of the 2 AP/year train.

That makes sense, though the solution to that - to me, at least, speaking as someone who deals in such items for my Real Job [tm] - is a matter of retailer training, not just nixing the whole product line. Display is a relatively easy problem to sort, and if you have a rep making the rounds of...

That's what I want, too - modules. Modules like in the Grand Old Days, with non-glossy, black-and-white printing on relatively cheap pulp paper, saddle-stitched with staples, all enclosed in a cardboard "cover" that was really the maps. 2-6 hours of play, for a limited level range. Priced around...

    D&D 5E Cavalier Archetype

    Good thoughts. Thanks!

    D&D 5E Cavalier Archetype

This didn't get any input before, but I have some of my own. My playtesting of the archetype went about as expected: 1. The archetype is ridiculously powerful if the Cavalier is mounted, and attacking a challenged foe (see below). 2. The archetype is on a par with the other PHB Fighter...

[UPDATED] WotC & Goodman Games Partner To Reprint Classic Modules for 5E

I'm not now and never was talking about printing my own books. I was and am talking about selling my freelance work to Wizards. I had no idea Goodman Games even existed. Thank you for telling me about them! There are so many 3rd-party content producers it's hard to keep up. Cheers, Bob...

[UPDATED] WotC & Goodman Games Partner To Reprint Classic Modules for 5E

Except that's even worse, and that's not what I'm talking about. I'm not talking about coming out with my book. I'm talking about getting a chunk of freelance money to work up those conversions so Wizards can publish their own book. It's well known that Wizards do very, very little in-house...

    D&D 5E Alternate Magic System

So does Rolemaster. Don't see a reason to duck. It's a thing I've often considered also. Cheers, Bob

D&D 5E Beast Ranger from UA with Monkey

I see no reason not to allow it. It's not going to come out of the blocks a gun-totin' swashbuckler. It's going to need training to become effective. Also, if you're using misfire rules, it's never going to have the expertise to rapidly diagnose and repair the flaw if the gun breaks. So there's...

[UPDATED] WotC & Goodman Games Partner To Reprint Classic Modules for 5E

I'm going to be highly irate if it isn't entirely new content. Some of us have been pestering Wizards for more than a year about converting old modules. Those of us who've been working with www.classicmodulestoday.com at least give you those pages of text which let you update the 1/2E mechanics...

D&D 5E How Do You Find Players?

Except for my wife, my Sunday group is comprised exclusively of people we've met through community theater. In fact, our newest player overheard me talking about D&D during a rehearsal and revealed he's been looking for a game for months. :) So now we have a halfling warlock. Cheers, Bob...

D&D 5E Lost Mines of Phandelver GM Resources

I'm starting it with my group Sunday. :) I've read it, and heard nothing but good about it, so I decided to finally put it in front of my players and have at it. I found this in my prep. Maybe it'll help. Cheers, Bob www.r-p-davis.com

D&D 5E LMoP: What's in Wave Echo Lake

Aboleth. https://www.reddit.com/r/DnDBehindTheScreen/comments/32x870/what_lurks_in_the_underground_lake_of_wave_echo/ I'm starting my players on LMoP tomorrow. They've been playtesting some of my DMs Guild content, for which I'm thankful, but we're at the end of that process. I've never played...

    D&D 5E Boons and Setbacks in 5e

I remember max normal +1W being the way of crits in D&DNext for ages, then when the books came out it was merely 2W+bonuses? Bugger THAT. A crit with a longsword should automatically do more damage than a firebolt. I should probably have read that before replying. ;) Sorry!
