Interview with Scott Rouse, Chris Perkins & Bill Slavicsek

No, I certainly don't think the replacement will be as good. Excuse me for seeming dense. In your original response, it seemed like you were putting words in my mouth and being dismissive of the view I was trying to present because you felt your opinion was more valid than mine. Based on your...

Interview with Scott Rouse, Chris Perkins & Bill Slavicsek

I like some of things that WoTC has published, but not necessarily everything. I don't quite follow your logic, though. They are replacing Dragon and Dungeon magazines with an electronic service. I'm not the least bit happy about that. Again, I'm not understanding how you are drawing this...

Interview with Scott Rouse, Chris Perkins & Bill Slavicsek

Traitors to the brand? Are you responding to my post or someone else's? I respect that you have the opinion that WoTC is doing well by you. They aren't doing well by me. I'm more concerned about the recent decision to discontinue Dragon and Dungeon magazines than product quality, though.

Explain "20 Minutes of Fun over 4 Hours" to me

I think it was an exagerration meant to point out all of the other things (rules referencing, out-of-game conversations, etc.) that go on during a typical gaming session.

Interview with Scott Rouse, Chris Perkins & Bill Slavicsek

I respect your opinion. I hope the digital magazine works out for you.

Interview with Scott Rouse, Chris Perkins & Bill Slavicsek

I know who to blame now, at least. Why would I trust, respect, support, or encourage a company that makes bad (IMO) management decisions? How many people here trusted and encouraged T$R and Lorraine Williams back in the day?

I'm stocked for life! (But what if no one cares?)

I think Particle Man has an excellent point. I buy WoTC books that interest me, but I also buy third party stuff. If 4E does'nt allow for open content, then my purchasing options become very limited (if I choose to switch to the new rules).

    I'm a bad DM

Start soapbox. You don't have an obligation to a game. You have an obligation to the people you game with. If you ask to participate in a group, then the group expects that you will. Some groups meet more often than others. If you want to hang out with people you haven't seen in a while or...

    I'm a bad DM part 2

True enough. I consider myself lucky to belong to a group where the PCs play an integral role in the development of the campaign; I don't think I could play in a group that would re-roll an entire party just to see what was at the end of a dungeon.

    I'm a bad DM part 2

Not necessarily. I think PC death can add a certain amount of drama to a game. TPKs, on the other hand, end the game altogether. If a DM goes through the trouble of creating a complicated campaign, why would she use a NPC (or other device) that totally derails the whole game? And, how could the...

    I'm a bad DM part 2

A TPK at a convention, using pre-generated characters, is fun. A TPK at a regular D&D "home" session, using PCs created by the players, is the exact opposite of fun (unless you're playing Call of Cthulhu). Why would you or your players want to play a game that wasn't fun?

    3.0 must have books

As others have before me, I would recommend "Manual of the Planes" (WOTC) and "Tome of Horrors" (Necromancer). I also like "World Builder" from Troll Lord.

[Spoiler] What happened to your Meepo?

First group: One PC spoke Draconic and there were no gnomes in the party, so safe passage and an audience with the sorceress-queen (Yavalla?) were negotiated. Meepo accompanied the PCs to retrieve the white dragon, Calcryx. The rescue of Erky almost broke the alliance, but the PCs were able to...

d20 Modern supplements from WotC: wish list / predictions

I would also like to see a Shadowchasers book (and/or Agents of Psi). Also, a "Weapons Locker"-type manual for vehicles (bikes, cars, planes, etc).
