D&D 5E New iOS app for 5E encounter tracking (DM's only)

Great improvements. Love the new encounter building features. It's kind of hard to distinguish between active, inactive, and disabled creatures… maybe gray out the text for disabled creatures and use some color to highlight the active creature? Sent from my iPhone using EN World mobile app

    D&D 5E Speculation - Potential Future Releases

FWIW, Chris Perkins has already done a faithful 5e (well, "D&D Next") adaptation of Tomb of Horrors. It's on pages 68-112 of Dungeon Magazine, Issue 213 (including illustrations). It's for level 10-14.

D&D 5E New iOS app for 5E encounter tracking (DM's only)

Very cool. I love the flexibility of this feature. The swipe-during-combat gesture is a bit hard to discover, though. I was suprised to discover that you can apply the same condition to multiple targets at once—that's pretty cool. I would change "Start of [Source] Next Turn" to something more...

D&D 5E New iOS app for 5E encounter tracking (DM's only)

Love the option to re-roll initiative each round. I might separate that setting from whether similar creatures are grouped together. The new keypad looks good too.

D&D 5E New iOS app for 5E encounter tracking (DM's only)

Cool. Those are some good improvements. Notes: It's still a little weird seeing "-5" damage to represent healing. Also, once you hit "Heal", there's no way to turn it back into damage except to delete everything. Two possible fixes: Display damage as negative by default. Change the "Heal"...

D&D 5E Lost Mines: Map Size Shenannegins

Actually, at full 60 dpi, 1":5' scale, the map would be even bigger than that: 75" x 102". It is pretty cool to see the full size of these big maps with 10' squares, but printing them is difficult to impossible. Panning on a flatscreen TV or projector is probably the only practical way to do it...

D&D 5E New iOS app for 5E encounter tracking (DM's only)

I downloaded the app. The visual presentation of the monsters and spells looks spot-on. Really nice job. I'm a fan of Game Master 5 and d20 Fight Club, but I think there's room for a faster, more lightweight combat manager. I'd be happy to be a beta tester. Here's my feedback: The app needs...

Chartopia - A Random Table product for GMs/players alike! Give it a go!

I noticed a couple of areas for improvement: It seems to have some trouble parsing parentheses. For instance, this rule: Resolves as: It would be great if you could do nested inline rolls, like: The instructions for "Insert Rollable List" say "Insert a semicolon separated list," but the...

Hey, great. Thanks! That inline roll thing helps a lot.

Chartopia - A Random Table product for GMs/players alike! Give it a go!

Maybe I'm missing something, but it seems like this could really use a simpler way to create nested tables. It seems like would take about 30 individually-named tables to implement something like this mission generator, with no clear indication which one is the main table that people are...

D&D 5E Any news about upcoming 5e WOTC products (post April 2016)?

This is the most solid information so far. It's clear now that Chris Perkins was describing Curse of Strahd when he talked about an "upcoming story that does go back to a past adventure" and "a story with vampires." He said they were playtesting adventures named Cloak and Dagger. Cloak featured...

House rule for minimum skill checks in 5e

There are a few issues with this. First, you can't just import Numenera's difficulty classes to a system with different assumptions. 6 is a "Standard" DC in Numenera, while 5 is "Very easy" in D&D. The most common DC is D&D is 15 ("Medium"), but that's considered "Challenging" in Numenera...

D&D 5E Clues in the Core Rulebooks

It might just be wishful thinking, but the rules for figuring out alien technology and futuristic items on pg. 268 of the DMG seem to hint at a revival of Expedition to the Barrier Peaks. You know people would flip their lids if they announced that.

D&D 5E FR "official" timeline? roll of years?

This is probably overthinking things, but: As far as I know, one of the few published adventures to clearly specify what year it takes place was Princes of the Apocalypse. It was published in April 2015. It says "The adventure is set in 1491 DR, the Year of the Scarlet Witch," and "this year...

D&D 5E New Map for Sword Coast

As I mentioned, the dots have been fixed in the latest version of the map. It does look like a mistake.
