Nice side effect of Wolfgang Bauer's Open Design project

Well, now it's fully funded + 1 :-P I had read about it earlier but was just to lazy to sign up, this topic reminded me to, with a nice spiffy cut off date to boot. nothing like realizing if you don't do something now you won't be able to get it done ever again.

Telling a Story vs. Having Fun

Definately a loaded question. I DM, for me it's about the story. For my players it's about the fun, if they aren't having fun, it's now about a SHINY NEW STORY.... rinse and repeat until the story is able to provide the fun.

    Recording game sessions?

As mentioned above, not my sessions but www.rpgmp3.com has the WLD campaign on audio. 40 sessions from beginning to end. Very relaxing to hear people BS'ing while at work without having to listen to your co-workers chatter.

Is mapping a lost art with adventurers?

When I am playing I will generally map, sometimes with great attention to room dimensions, and other times not. When I DM people generally do not map and I will usually hand them cleaned copies of the dungeon they are in (Often from Dungeon Magazine), or, if there are no clean copies of the map...

Would these maps make for a fun dungeon adventure?

They look pretty good to me.... Mapping? you don't have to hit every dimension... Doesn't have to be concise. Is your character surveying the dungeon or exploring it?

Do You Sometimes Purchase RPG Books Just To Read (Not For Play Purposes)?

My campaigns are usually just vanilla. Three core books and that is it. I have all of the other books for ideas and inspiration...You can base your character off of one of the ideas in these books and I will give you a good amount of roleplaying xp if you can keep up the flavor of the PrC or...

Complete Adventure Index Now this is something that I've been hoping for for quite awhile. Maybe we'll finally get an online searchable system to go along with this? Possibly some feedback and / or a rating system for each article? Mr. Mona, If you don't have something like this in the...

Forays into the world of wireless network connections

The switches on the side (or top, or front) of the laptops are for built in wireless cards that you use to turn the wireless communications on/off. This is mostly to help out with power consumption if you are not using the wireless connection. (also a bit of security in there)

    Customer Service Snafu

I didn't really see the sarcasim in his email either. Truth is, he probably thinks that the site is fine as is (more than likely it was MUCH worse a few months back) and does not have the time and or resources for another revamp. He could have been a bit clearer and maybe a bit less abrupt in...

The Finding: A Journey through the Night Below

Session 2 Part 2: The tower and the woods After finishing the meal, we ventured out into the downpour to find Talester. Seeing as his tower is the tallest building in town, it was not a difficult task. We approached the door with little caution, not knowing quite what to expect. What we did...

Has anybody seen Dungeon #124 at their FLGS yet?

Diaglo, You must have done something very bad to the postman to warrant all of these late mags. He hates you, that's the only explanation. Either that or Eric Mona has personally seen to it that your copy is shipped out a full month after the initial run. Got my copy about 3 days ago. Of...

The Finding: A Journey through the Night Below

As the date implies, I'm trying to keep up with this as the game goes along....maybe since we aren't playing until monday I might even get the other portions of Session 2 done before we play session 3. Don't know though.... I wrote up the session 2 part 1 from about 1/4 of a page out of 3 1/2...

The Finding: A Journey through the Night Below

Session 2 Part 1: To Thurmaster Session 2 (05/22/2005) Thurmaster, Rock Dale and Broken Spire Keep: Day 5: I awoke with the dawn. The mists coated the river, as though some brilliant artist had gently touched the surface and pulled a hint of white up towards the sky. A short while later...

The Finding: A Journey through the Night Below

Session 1 (05/15/2005) Char Creation, Road to Milbourne and Fight with Bandits: Day 1: I will remember this day as the first, although I had been traveling for perhaps the last 2 months, having left (my village) to go on my finding. Today, while I had stopped to eat in a small meadow outside...
