    I kind of want to give them a secondary bite attack, based on their baboonish muzzle, but aside from that textual divergence, what you said sounded pretty good. Note that the burn does damage to items as well. A fire shield type effect, perhaps, with a rider akin to the frostbrittle ability?

    OK, that's strange. Do we want there to be any mechanical link with the surrogate? For example, the resident (don't really like the name, BTW) gains bonuses when within X feet of him/her?

    He's super-resistant to turning. I think positive energy resistance is a good way to incorporate all of those abilities.

    I'm glad you added the damage on failed Will, passed Fort, because that's exactly what I was going to suggest. I like the dream haunting model for the oppress sleeper.

    Unique creature. Fighter bonus feats, disease on the sword attack, positive energy resistance and improved turn resistance.

    Agreed to increased damage (2d6 a round?), remove curse stopping it. How about making the victim sickened each round taking damage, and sickened for a round even if they pass?
