I hate death saves. Propose your solution.

Why not keep the existing rule that any damage is an automatic fail? All I want to do is to change the amount of meta information that is transferred at the table, to prevent people from getting a false sense of security, that's absolutely unrealistic given what would be happening in the real...

    D&D (2024) 6e? Why?

Regardless of sales opinions, I'm in total agreement with you that the Beginner's Set can and should be thoroughly vetted and updated. They've improved their ways of writing adventures and rulebooks over times, it would be silly to assume that the set is still perfect now. I've seen a ton of...

I hate death saves. Propose your solution.

I picked up a good idea from another site: Don't make death saving throws during the combat. Have the character mark how many turns they are unconscious before they are attended to. THEN, when someone attends to them, roll all of the saves. It eliminates the meta gaming of 'they're at 2 made...

    D&D (2024) 6e? Why?

If that's true... ^^^ What does this mean then? :D

    D&D (2024) 6e? Why?

Providing two choices that have differences that are unknowable to a new user is a fundamentally bad idea to anyone who does commerce as a career. So, feel free to disagree, but the people operating on Wizard's level can back it up with overwhelming amounts of experience and experimental proof...

    D&D (2024) 6e? Why?

6E won't happen for a long time. The only thing I can possibly see happening is new printings of 5e incorporating subtle tweaks to rules and wording, as they incorporate the lessons they've learned over time with errata, different books, and sage advice. I would really appreciate a good pass...

Crit and death saves mean automatic ability score damage - Too gritty?

I hate to jump on such an amazing post, but I have to say it: Schrödinger's Death Saves. I've just adopted this as a new house rule.

    D&D 5E The Clean Sheet

I've been holding off on those because they probably mean tweaking javascript, which is a bit more involved than just adding more text. I'll give those a go next update.

Taking Greenflame Blade and Booming blade all the way

We had a Sorcerer do this in my game. Started Fighter, then Shadow Sorcerer. It worked OK, but he was a glass cannon. The few times he was hit in the front line hurt him enough to make him disengage immediately. A pure Bladesinger with the Mobile feat seems like a good bet too. Bladesinging...

A level 20 Wizard of each school vs each other in combat

It means the primary ability of the War Mage, being much more likely to go first, is automatically neutered without any reason.

A level 20 Wizard of each school vs each other in combat

The 'one concentration spell' ruins it. Give it a 'guess what, roll for initiative' and the War Wizard is top 3.

Session time and level advancement (ie, how many hours gametime for a level)

That's close enough to my experience, even with us using Milestone. Lower levels were faster - 3 sessions x 5-6 hours a piece - because they were simpler to master. Now that we're level 5+, where the characters have more complexity, it's about 4-5 session per, which averages to 25 hours.

    D&D 5E The Clean Sheet

OK, it looks like Gretakillor is busy, and hasn't updated the GitHub yet, so if anyone's interested, here's the updated 2.6 PDF. I included 4 other PDFs I used to QA my work - with all the new and updated content entered so it's easy to check over. Take a look at them and let me know if you...

    D&D 5E The Clean Sheet

I just added version 2.6 to Github! I added all of Xanathar's spell content, including the updated versions of all the EE spells - some of which have some changed spell descriptions and rules. (i.e. range of Thunderclap / Word of Radiance, range of Catapult). The cantrips are in the...

Will you make transsexual Elves canon in your games ?

To me, it's canon, always has been. "Corellon is alternately male or female, both or neither." It's fine. It's not an attack on you.

This one under the multiclassing surprises me. You do not pick up any save proficiency when you multiclass.

D&D 5E Duergar and "nonstandard" races

One of the problems all of this is that a lot of people are coming into this thread and state their preference or their world as “the truth“. D&D originally was a very black and white world, evil creatures were EVIL and that was that. It was very cut and dried. The idea of cultural relativity...

Have you ever intentionally ignored a character aspect?

Nevermind - I misread. Like others said, choose Champion for your Fighter. Problem solved. It's exactly what you're looking for.

Have you ever intentionally ignored a character aspect?

I forget things all the time, which is functionally the same.
