D&D 1E The Imaginary Book that Spawned "Necessary" Monsters

That's interestting. Gygax probably knew the contents of that book, at least indirectly. We'll probably never know what made Topsell change the gorgon into a bull-like creature.

D&D 1E The Imaginary Book that Spawned "Necessary" Monsters

My guess is that the D&D "gorgons" were inspired by the fire-breathing bulls (khalkotauroi) of the Argonautica.

Hahaha, we both had the same idea at the same time!

D&D 1E The Imaginary Book that Spawned "Necessary" Monsters

I guess the doppelganger is surprised that somebody saw it without a disguise (naked as it were). By the way: Although the associated verb of "Gänger" (gehen) can mean walker, it simply means "to go" in this case. Thus Doppelgänger is the one who goes double, not the one who walks double!

D&D 5E New Cover for Eberron: Rising from the Last War

Thank God, the ridiculous square-tipped "sword" is gone.

D&D 5E 5-page Preview of Scarred Lands Creature Collection

I guess the camel is supposed to be the seraphic creature. It doesn't look very angelic to me, more like it's suffering from some kind of disease.

D&D General Vote For Your Favourite D&D Villain

I was tempted to vote for Kyuss as well. He may not be well-known among D&D players nowadays, but he was always suitably "yucky" with all of his maggoty stuff.

D&D General Here's What A 5' Square Actually Looks Like

To my knowledge, the German translation of Pathfinder uses squares of 1.5 meters, which is pretty much the same as 5 feet.

D&D General Vote For Your Favourite D&D Villain

Yeah, Iuz should have been on the list. I voted for Vecna - at least one Greyhawk villain.

Pathfinder 2E Leshies Previewed From Lost Omens Character Guide

Maybe dragons, like dinosaurs, are actually birds.

Pathfinder 2E Leshies Previewed From Lost Omens Character Guide

Yeah, that's why I don't call these "dog people" (or are they reptilians?) "kobolds" in my campaign.

Pathfinder 2E Leshies Previewed From Lost Omens Character Guide

They shouldn't call them leshies, though. A leshy is something completely different: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leshy

Pathfinder 2E Leshies Previewed From Lost Omens Character Guide

Don't forget about the vegepygmies! They go all the way back to 1st edition D&D and were always one of my favorite monsters.
