    D&D 5E Volo's Warlock NPCs

NPCs don't follow character class rules. If the designer wants an NPC to have twenty different invocations, then the NPC can have them; they are not restricted to the eight lifetime boons that a PC is restricted to.

    D&D 5E Cursed items : yes or no ?

By the RAW, the Identify spell does not reveal whether or not an item is cursed:

Dry Erase Tiles, anyone use them?

One of each set (the 36 5-inch squares and 9 10-inch squares) is sufficient for me so far. Depending on the size of your play top, you may be able to get away with one or the other instead of both.

Dry Erase Tiles, anyone use them?

I use exactly that product, along with the 10 inch square set. They're *much* easier to handle than the battlemat, as I can draw out the map on the tile then pass it to be placed in the middle of the table rather than having to move around the table and (more importantly) the players.

    Homebrew Magical Items

This thread is intended to discuss homebrew magical items that we've created for our parties, with accompanying critics from fellow DMs and players. I'm a relatively new DM to D&D 5e (though not to RPGs), so I'm still getting a feel for the balance game - but I'm relentlessly interested in...

D&D 5E PC Animal Companion. Would you allow it?

Yes, but not directly. First, the Ranger would be built as the other subclass; second, the Animal Companion would be a (homebrew) animal-as-a-PC race with normal class levels (probably in Fighter, Rogue, or Barbarian). In other words, the idea of the player's character being an animal companion...

D&D 5E Hey should this be rare or uncommon?

Oh, yes. If it doesn't require attunement, then it's definitely Rare.

    Removing ASIs

The one thing I dislike about ASIs versus Feats is that they make high-level characters attributes way too similar; STR-based characters all wind up the strongest person in the world, DEX-based characters all wind up the most agile person in the world, etc. It's rather annoying and silly.

D&D 5E Hey should this be rare or uncommon?

I disagree; Rarity in D&D 5e is directly about power level and price; you should never have an item that's significantly less powerful than another but that's listed as a higher rarity, no matter whether or not one of the items is a unique one-off or a standard piece of kit for the largest army...

D&D 5E Hey should this be rare or uncommon?

The weapon somehow knowing what time it is isn't actually that strange - all those 1 use per day items typically recharge at sunrise, after all.

D&D 5E Hey should this be rare or uncommon?

A standard +2 Weapon is Rare just by itself, and the Moon Light ability should have pretty much no impact on the rarity of the item; it's not strong enough to matter when compared to the Night Strength ability. The question of its rarity comes down to whether or not the 'only at night'...

    D&D 5E DMAssist - Dungeon Master Tool

This looks like a pretty good tool - but with a few small changes it could be excellent. The first thing that I'd be interested in is a way to easily go to a monster's detailed sheet from the initiative tracker; it feels like just clicking on the monster's name should open it up in a...
