    D&D General 1s and 20s: D&D's Narrative Mechanics

I've used them as such. In the previous campaign, the two wizards bound a potent fire elemental into a sword. Naturally, they gave the sword to the paladin. In a major but non-climactic fight, the paladin's player rolled three 1s in a row. This created great amusement for nearly everyone at...

D&D General Eastern Dragons in 5e

You know, not as much (although it is excellent). I took me a minute, but he's too human. If the musculature was other than "buff human" that would be interesting. I appreciate it, but it doesn't inspire like the other one. It's the clothes, their cut, the different weapon, the little runes...

D&D General Eastern Dragons in 5e

This picture is everything I want a dragonborn to be. I absolutely love it. Alternatively, of course he's a dragon taking human form. He must be getting lax with the other dragonborn around.

Judges Guild Makes Statement About Goodman Controversy [Updated]

The exit clause could be "Pay Bob Jr $2500, and the contract is void." It might be that Mr. Goodman finds the current path more acceptable. Would it be acceptable for Joe Goodman post "I've heard you; the project is dead in its entirety and I've paid the Bledsaws the monetary penalty for such"...

Goodman Games Revives Relationship With Anti-Semitic Publisher For New City State Kickstarter [UPDATED]

At this point, for me, I want to know if there is a fail clause in the contract. I'm not entitled to know, Joe Goodman may not be allowed to state that one way or there other. But, the only way this makes sense is if GG has to publish CSIO by [Date] or cut Judge's Guild a check for $X. It may be...

Goodman Games Revives Relationship With Anti-Semitic Publisher For New City State Kickstarter [UPDATED]

He can't absolutely guarantee that the royalties generated are equal to or less than refunds claimed. He's just stating the "what if".

    Daggerheart has been Officially Released

Deadlands did something like that with chips. Poker hands were used instead of dice, and a particularly good or bad hand would determine success or failure and possibly chips to spend as a metacurrency.

Daggerheart Reveals Ranger Class Preview (Exclusive)

The arm looks good to me. The ulna has a bit of a bend on it to help the radius to wrap around it.

D&D (2024) Should a general Adventurer class be created to represent the Everyman?

Perhaps Monk. Maybe paladin depending on how you see them. I would be good in an Everyman having an epiphany becoming a paladin. "Wait- it's not might makes right. Might for right!" Otherwise, yes, those are the only two that require formalized study for a specific time.

Goodman Games Revives Relationship With Anti-Semitic Publisher For New City State Kickstarter [UPDATED]

Around the 2/3rds mark I seem to remember that playing up the cosmopolitan nature of the City-State, and to present the setting as more progressive. It's been a hot minute since I saw the video, so I may be misremembering the comment.

D&D (2024) Should a general Adventurer class be created to represent the Everyman?

I figured that the rogue was the closest to the "everyman". They didn't fight well, but better than those that deliberately eschewed physical combat. They didn't know any magic, but could, eventually, puzzle out a scroll. It was easy to swap out some abilities for others. So, the dwarven...

D&D (2024) What medievalesque skill name do you prefer, for machinery, architecture, math, physics?

I use Engineering for the building of (seige) engines, construction, and water management. It also gives some intuition about geomancy. The construction of fantastic machines, automatons, flame lances, &c., are Gearwrights, although Artifex and Wrightcraft are appealing words to use.

D&D General Would You Play High Level (12-15);Wiith Pre Generated Characters? Mostly 5.0/5.5 but theoretically any edition.

Sure. If it's a campaign I'm going to want to adjust things as I level up, and I have some specific class preferences, but I'm game. This assumes, however, that I know this person and have gamed with them in the past. If I trust them, sure. If I need to play a couple sessions with a PC I don't...

Which ghosts would make great pcs?

Captain Daniel Gregg, one of the last sea captains of the Age of Sail. Resistant to change, tough as nails, desires to leave his estate to form a retirement home caring for the less fortunate or crippled sea captains that come after him.

Goodman Games Offers Assurances About Judges Guild Royalties

The thing that pushed me over the line was his sincerity, having watched the video. Not everyone has time or inclination for that, certainly. Simple stubbornness doesn't ring true. And, I would certainly prefer this over GG having to cut a check to JG to break any potential contractual obligations.

Goodman Games Offers Assurances About Judges Guild Royalties

Well, Joe addressed nearly all my concerns. He acknowledged the problem. Apologized for not understanding the situation. He empathized, genuinely, I feel. Directly addressed the concern. Explained how the royalties would be handled. Explained how funds sufficient, short, or in excess would be...

D&D 5E What If Everyone Could Use Scrolls? (House rule)

What level does the spell take effect at? Can it vary by character level? Can the wizard scribe a fireball at 5th spell level of effect? NB: I think this is a great idea, although the rogue might want a shiny new ribbon for later.

What Mundane Details Are Important In Your Fantastical Game/World?

Some food and drink, local wines and liquors (Ophirian Yellow is sour, great for Summers and hot work). I comment on customs, sometimes. (Dvergar sew a small stone into their hat or helm to reflex a portion of their holy book - "While sheltering under my hand you shall enjoy my protection."...

    D&D General Limiting Utility Cantrips

The light cantrip makes an object glow. The fighter's breastplate, gauntlet, spearhead, and the like are common targets IMC. It frees up a hand. Maybe I don't understand your question.
