    Prestige Class? Master of Science.

Other than Bragging Rights, what class benefits do we get? Edit: Thanks for the acceptance into the class.

    Prestige Class? Master of Science.

Less than a month ago, I defended for the title of Master of Science in Logic and Computation. Less than two weeks after that, all of my post-defense revisions were done. Shortly after that, I was certified a Master of Science. Congratulations to me, it is fantastic to be finished and to have...

    D&D 4E The Quadratic Problem—Speculations on 4e

Speaking as a scientist... I think the mainstay of what this discussion shows is simply the variables in 3.5e are not well defined in terms of power, and it is not well defined what the variables should be per level. Notice: AC, hit points, to-hit and average damage per hit can all be very...

Tell me about your best (and worst) campaign endings

I once conquered Kalamar. Whether that's good or bad, I leave to you. My battlemage took on Emperor Kabori in a one-on-one deathmatch. No magic allowed. Divine Intervention, and not bothering to remove my stoneskin -- and Kabori saying we woudn't wear armor -- are what let me win that one...

    Class: "just" level-dependent special abilities.

Here's my current thinking about classes. The basic idea is that if you take character level N in a class, you get the abilities of the Nth level of that class. (Note: More than likely, this is either a 4e or a house rule thread. If it needs to be moved, feel free.) Hit die: d4 + some number...

Rich Burlew's (Order of the Stick) setting?

His oots world an the world bought by WOTC are different game worlds. He's not allowed to mention anything about that game world. Besides, he's sick and recovering from illness right now.

    Ranger Modification.

<a href=http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/cwc/20061013a> Here </a> Edit: html apparently doesn't work, or I'm a dork and don't remember. Its here: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/cwc/20061013a Or, just google for "dead levels", it is the first hit.

    Ranger Modification.

Alright, so a couple bonuses isn't sufficient. How about: Favored terrain: 4) First Favored Terrain: Can flank in favored terrain, with a Survival check DC 10 + HD/2 of enemy to be flanked. 12) Second: Can move +10 foot in favored terrain. 20) Third: Automatic 20 on Survival checks in favored...

    Ranger Modification.

Aright, so keep it at a d8 .... I think I prefer rangers to have a d8 anyway. As for two-weapon fighting versus one-weapon fighting, perhaps every attack, if doing one-weapon fighting, only gets half the strength bonus? How does this compare to a fighter? Barb?

    Ranger Modification.

This is yet another proposed change to the Ranger. I'll only include the changes, the rest is as-is in 3.5. The questions are, of course: 1. would you play this class? 2. Would you allow this class in your game? 3. What do you think? 4. Does this make the fighter less worthwhile? First change...

    Warlock-esque cleric

here's a potential way to fix the lack of "class features" without giving additional combat spells: a member of this class may use a cleric spell that he does not know one time per day. This can be a spell up to the level that a cleric of his level can cast. The casting time is increased to 10...

    Warlock-esque cleric

... but mine's so much simpler. ;-) That doesn't stop an important point from being true, though: Break Enchantment, Remove Curse, etc are occasionally indispensable.

    Warlock-esque cleric

What I love about the Warlock class is that it is incredibly simple. The lack of spells/day reduces the complexity by a really amazing amount, especially as -- all of a sudden -- the spell casting stat doesn't matter and certainly doesn't give additional spells per day. By the flavor text, the...

    Suggestions for epic level books?

At level 1000+, (or even 100+), is there a good reason not have 9th level spells of a multitude of progessions? like, 20th level cleric/20th level wizard/whatever else ... I've never played at those levels, so perhaps there is some obvious responce -- but why not do that?

    Warlock Dark Invocation: Create Undead

Right. Change the energy type, as many things do at the lesser level, but do not give the negative levels. What would, then?

    Warlock Dark Invocation: Create Undead

But ... if it is negative energy, why would it only heal your undead? What's the rationale, other than balance?
  17. E

    Warlock Dark Invocation: Create Undead

To keep it simple, how about it heals 1 point per d6 damage?

    Warlock Dark Invocation: Create Undead

The Why: I want Warlocks to be capable of being powerful necromancers. Somewhere between the standard power level of a wizard necromancer and a cleric necromancer. The What: Dark Invocation, Create Undead as per the spell. i am also considering a feat or invocation allowing the Eldritch Blast...

Summoning up a shopkeep, balanced for first level?

If that is what you're shooting for, make it as low level as possible and ignore the balance issues -- it'll be balanced by the negotiation. Even with the first level one: "You're in a 100 foot hole and need rope? I'll give it to you, but you'll need to do me a favor later...."

Clerics' Channeling, not casting(long post, sorry)

This all seems fairly complicated. Want to get rid of Vancian casting for clerics? Fine, but there should be an easier way. I like the increasing difficulty modifier, and the idea that you can pray for longer to lower the DC. How about every "spell" "cast" (that is, prayers used) increases...
