    D&D 5E 5e Magic

The wily Mearls design team has inserted enough ambiguity to bring back to D&D multiple "how many angels can dance on the head of a pin" discussions and pique interest and emotional/intellectual investment! :D The heady early days of 1E and 2E (and even 3E) have returned! And AM, I haven't...

D&D 5E Things that make you go Hmmm, Starter Set **spoilers**

This one is only slightly better (as in F+ rather than F) than the set-up-to-fail scenario in the 4E DMG that was supposed to teach newbie DMs and players.

    My first 5e house rule

Agree. It's always seemed to me to be easy to justify getting hps back pretty quickly if you are already at half your hps or higher. Below that is more wear and tear, and those shouldn't come back as quick. Haven't figured out how to model that yet though without adding too much undesired...

    House Rules for 5e

I like your AC Proficiencies Table. It will throw off, a bit, WotC's calculations (about opponents, etc.) for levels past 4, as many characters' AC, on average, will be higher than at present. Given that a great deal of the susceptibility to easy gakking is in the early levels, it will be late...

First 5e house rule - Brutal Hit!

Like it. As with all such rules, it's unfortunately going to have a higher probability of adversely affecting the characters, since they are in combat more than individual monsters who usually make a single appearance.

    Getting the creative juices flowing

Pick a portion of my game setting that is really interesting to me. Take elements and scenes from favorite fantasy movies and novels and blend them to make an adventure I would like to partake of, then storyboard it out like a script, building in the places for social interaction, exploration...

How do I make combat fun with minimal complexity?

You might collect some cool descriptions of fight scenes from novels, add what looks cool from fight scenes from your favorite movies, then have some brainstorming with your players about how to add those sorts of things (even if you don't do it all the time) to your game.

House Rule - Long Term Injury Table

Getting a jump on what WotC already said they were coming out with later (or at least something similar), eh? I think it's a fine start, and adds a bit of flavor. Will up complication a bit, of course, as you will have to keep track when it happens to opponents as well as characters. And in a...

    D&D 5E Official D&D Basic Discussion Thread

This is referring to how much weight a person can lift off the ground, not bench press. It would be a strain, no doubt, and couldn't be lifted very high or maintained for long, but it could be done. I'm late to the party, so if someone has already replied on this, my apologies.
