    D&D (2024) DM Tracking Sheets

My only question is what are people expected to write using all the space for “Alignment” in the NPC Tracker? “Chaotic Neutral with Good tendencies, extra cream and a slice of lemon, hold the fries?” It seems a case of form over function, but I am not a designer, and I am sure that if I took...

    D&D (2024) I have the DMG. AMA!

Does this mean that all house rules you want to use in a game have to be "official" ones in the DMG or some other WOTC-published source that you know all your players will have? Separate house rule docs seemed pretty common back in the 2e days (though some were horrifyingly large)

    D&D (2024) I have the DMG. AMA!

I mean, there's a section in the new DMG specifically discussing House Rules and how to introduce them. It's short, but it's there. Also optional rules like Renown, firearms, and 'Death Lite' etc that support different narrative and play styles - essentially giving examples of house rules to...

D&D (2024) Table of Contents for Dungeon Masters Guide Leaked

It’s interesting to see there is no direct equivalent to “Between Adventures” (chapter 6 in 2014), or reference to downtime. There’s still Crafting, and of course Bastions. No mention of “Carousing” which saddens my inner grognard but I am at peace since that seems more a sop for 4e deserters...

    D&D General D&D Lay Offs/Corporate Re-Organization

For the record, many companies do this. Unpaid leave is a financial liability, especially if it’s possible to accrue beyond a fixed ceiling. They’re generally not prodding you because they’re looking out for your mental health or anything.

D&D (2024) Scions of Elemental Evil: Upcoming Free Adventure from D&D Beyond

That was my thought. Seems weird to hype up the ToEE in this “appetizer” and not follow through with the main course at some point in the hopefully-not-too-distant future (but yeah I’d be surprised if it dropped in 2025)

D&D General Why 5E Adventurs Suck!!!!!

I find these “XYZ sucks!!!! Just kidding, but I got your attention” posts super tiresome. Is it really necessary to use trollish subject lines just to get “engagement” on this forum? It’s the enworld equivalent of a YouTube thumbnail with an outraged face and a big red arrow pointing to an...

    D&D (2024) Overthinking Long Rest in 2024

Lived there 2014-2019. Don’t forget the Fosters equivalent: “Seattle’s Best Coffee” - errr..no….

    D&D (2024) Overthinking Long Rest in 2024

You are 1000% correct on the Fosters. 🤢 (Caution: subjectivity) More complex on the Starbucks side. There’s plenty of them around (I’m in Seattle this week) and they are well frequented. There’s definitely a set of folks more loyal to local chains like Ladro, Herkimer - those who reject “Big...

    A Deep Dive into the 2024 D&D Player's Handbook

Thinking it through, I do see that pushing errata early could have a material impact on book sales (I’m not buying it! Look at all the changes they’ve had to make already!), so I can see why it hasn’t happened yet.

    A Deep Dive into the 2024 D&D Player's Handbook

Just feels like an easier and more sustainable mechanism would be to push simple commentary on these edits into a deeper changelog as they happen (or batched weekly). 90% of the solution is right there in their content management workflows, I am willing to bet. I wonder if there are other...
