D&D 5E What Your XP Level Says About Your Character?

I was actually referring to the Fey, not the Elves. But the expression "Fair Folk" has been used for both, so this is completely understandable.

D&D 5E What Your XP Level Says About Your Character?

Everyone knows the Fair Folk speak Gaelic.

D&D 5E The case for niche protection

In some editions of D&D, an adventuring party is likely to need a Cleric even if they avoid combat religiously. (See what I did there?) Adventures are hazardous: traps, falls, natural disasters, disease, harsh weather, and vermin (rot grubs, ear seekers, green slime, etc.) all take their toll...

D&D 5E Warlock Magic Item Christmas Wish list

My two favorite weapons for a Bladelock are the Warning weapon (easy to get) and the Defending weapon (not so easy). In RoT, my BladeLock character got hold of a Dragon Mask, and the council of Metallic Dragons wanted it bad enough that I was able to barter it for a Defending Rapier from their...

    New Metamagic option, needs work

I'm considering the creation of a homebrew Metamagic option for altering the damage type of Elemental spells. What I've got so far: 1) Pick one elemental damage type. Using this Metamagic option, an elemental spell's damage may be converted to that type. The damage type to which damage will...

D&D 5E Making my player's warlock more fun!

Dausuul said everything I was going to say, so I just XP'd his posts and called it a day! Seriously, tho. After gaining a few levels, my old Warlock character had almost too many choices for Bonus Actions and Reactions. I hope your Warlock player keeps his character long enough to find this...

D&D 5E Shadow Step in dark dungeon - general purpose teleport or abuse of feature?

Speaking as a GM, if he's teleporting into dark spaces all over the place and getting away with it, I'd say the main problem is that your dungeon just isn't dangerous enough. BAMF-Monk should be nervous about teleporting into strange, dark places!

    Faerie Fire too powerful

Rules As Written don't address your question because they don't ordinarily need to. It's assumed that arrows sticking into a target do no further damage. And it's assumed they do no further damage when pulled out. Otherwise, the RAW would say so. There, that was easy. Bye now.

    Faerie Fire too powerful

Yeah, there's no way a puny 2nd level spell should cost the target its action for the round. Oh wait, that's nonsense. There are lots of 2nd level spells that do exactly that. :p

    Faerie Fire too powerful

Either that, or the PHB writers just didn't think of it. Most metal armor has leather straps holding the metal plates together, but the Heat Metal spell doesn't say a single word about damaging those. Using it on an arrow seems like an interesting idea. I'd rule that pulling the arrow out...

    D&D 5E Feats

Go to the Dungeon Master's Guild and enter Feats in the search bar. You'll get a list of products with new (but unofficial) feats.

D&D 5E I'm the DM and a player is trying to abuse the Immovable Rod. Advice?

Hmmm, yeah.... Shenanigans like these are why you ignore all those gaming advice articles that insist the DM should "Always find a way to say yes" or "Never say no" or other such nonsense.

D&D 5E ghost vs Hideous Laughter? Immune or roll the save

The charm keyword doesn't come up at all (as in, not even once) in the spell write up for Tasha's Hideous Laughter. So it's not a charm spell. Done. As for what other spells are charm spells? Do they have the word charm in their write up? Do they cause the charmed condition? If the answer to...

    D&D 5E What should a hangover do in 5e?

Seriously? A severe hang-over lasts longer than 30 minutes at any age. And no matter how old you are, no hang-over will last 72 hours, under any circumstances.

D&D 5E What's your favorite two item combo?

If I've got the time, I usually just cast Armor of Agathys and Mirror Image prior to combat and call it good. At that point my single-class Mage-Armored BladeLock can wade into melee without dying, and anyone who manages to hit him will regret it.

D&D 5E Is it houseruling to let a torch set fire to things?

So the question is, will a lit torch light another torch? That's it? And is that considered a "house rule" according to some people? Derp!

    Faerie Fire too powerful

LMAO! This is why my FeyLock keeps catching his enemies completely off guard with that spell.

What ever happened to Lorica Segmentata? Oh, heck with it. I'll cast Mage Armor!

D&D 5E Can Bard cast Word of Recall?

    Yeah, that makes sense. /smirk

    D&D 5E What's Divine Smite Worth?

The fact that Divine Smite stacks with other Smite spells is the real issue, IMHO. This gives the Paladin a powerful way to effectively ignore the normal limitation of one spell per turn. Divine Smite may not be a spell, but that's the problem: it does damage equivalent to a spell with no action...
