    OotS 1009

You just read it. Burlew has only been hinting the details through the comic. We got more explanation why the kid chose to stay dead ( duh, he's in Heaven ) than what put him there.

    D&D 5E Players rolling defense in 5e

I recommend the DM still rolling opponent's saves. It will save grief once Legendary Resistance starts being a factor.

D&D 5E Why is the pike 18 lbs?!?!?

I thought that too, until Crawford mentioned this... So for some reason they view the pike as unwieldy, even though there's no special rules for that, like there is for the Lance. That's why I believe there was supposed to be more to the pike, but it got clipped late in the play-test.

D&D 5E Why is the pike 18 lbs?!?!?

NONE of the other reach weapons are built like that. All the others have reasonable weights and the pike doesn't have anything beyond it's weight to indicate there is anything unusual about it compared to the other lighter reach weapons. (Overall 5E has been really good about getting weapon...

    OotS 1009

Those ideas are incongruent with the way the blacksmith approached the issue of the Deadly Green Energy in the comic it was introduced in, as a side effect to be counteracted. But you have a good point that Roys injuries seem gone. So maybe a retcon is afoot. (Might also be an artistic choice...

    OotS 1009

And man it looks like both Durkula and Roy got a MAJOR dose of the deadly green energy! I wonder if Roy will live long enough for not counteracting it to catch up with him? The blacksmith warned him to do this and he ignored the warning, so his comeuppance will be haaarlarious.

    Wachowski Bros.: Roleplayers? (Kult/Matrix)

I think part of the similarity OP was getting at was how the lives of normal people caught in the matrix and too old to be freed, had no meaning, to be killed at a character's convenience. With no way out, they can't be saved. Indeed killing them was beneficial to the characters to keep Agents...

    Apparently KULT is coming back.

http://kultdivinitylost.com/ http://www.facebook.com/kultdivinitylost Always been curious about KULT, premise sounded interesting, but I never go a chance to crack open the books.

    OOTS 1008

Berlew draws enlargement as enhugement. Previous castings of Thor's Might and Enlarge Person, Mass have shown this.

    Ending Viral Disease

I'd be less cynical if it wasn't both Indiegogo and flexible funding. I know there have been inroads against viruses and all, like Aleeve and one of the flu strains, but this campaign has just chosen one of the less trust-able set ups.

What's The Deal With D&D Translations?

Oh I think you are dead on the money. That's exactly how bean counters look at a situation like this. The Face Guys say "We want D&D for everybody!" but none of the Numbers Guys want to look like they lost $1,000,000 potential dollars to make $90,000 actual dollars of licencing, to use your...

    D&D 5E Disintegrate Vs. Druid

Then you also have made Polymorph a 1-2 kill if used offensively. FYI.

D&D 5E Five new players. 1st level PCs. First monster they meet is...

One thing to keep in mind is the multiple creature multiplier assumes is all the foes can attack the PCs each round with their best attack routine. If foes have to wait in line, the DM has to use their judgement how difficult the encounter really is.

D&D 5E Five new players. 1st level PCs. First monster they meet is...

Yes, the Monster Manual "Thugs" are pretty solid. I might go as far to say the CR rules might be slightly undervaluing the pack tactics ability.

D&D 5E Five new players. 1st level PCs. First monster they meet is...

Goblins are not quite the trainers the used to be. You really can't use them in a good amount vs a first level group. That Dex adds to damage as a default means their hits are much more solid than the old days. Then add in that they are designed to be playing Whack a Mole with the hiding rules...

D&D 5E Five new players. 1st level PCs. First monster they meet is...

2d12 desperate commoners and 1d10 bandits as their 'leaders' who are blooding potential recruits. Give the commoners proficiency in daggers so they have a ranged option without changing their damage profile. Sadly one kinda needs a pack of commoners now and then to reward the player who takes...

D&D 5E Could a Mind Flayer (Illithid) devour another Mind Flayer's brain...?

Yes 2E, Ravenloft Module Thoughts of Darkness IIRC. The original write up was slightly vague on their energy drain. Sure they were worth 2000xp more than a normal vampire, but I'm not so sure that is equitable for being able to beat 8 levels off someone a round! Later uses of the monster in...

    OOTS 1008

It does seem that the author draws enlargement as enhugement.

Bringing Wands of Fireball/Lightning Bolt in check

I'd just rule the last megabolt shorted out the wand and it's now capped at 10d6. i also think ruling that you have to high enough to cast whatever level of bolt you are trying to shoot is very reasonable. But I'd say you just are not throwing enough mooks at the party. 9th level is when the...
