Level Up (A5E) Is Level Up: Advanced 5th Edition compatible with D&D 5E?

But (IMHO) you can't form the same kind of deep relationship with it, and that relationship is the entire centrepiece of the archetype. But we're veering off topic, and it's my fault, so: looking forward to the report back!

Level Up (A5E) Is Level Up: Advanced 5th Edition compatible with D&D 5E?

Please do! Personally I loathe the Tasha's primal beast, which in being a spirit not an actual beast IMHO completely violates the concept. But I appreciate that is a personal opinion :)

Level Up (A5E) Press the Attack/Fall Back update

It's Shield Master feat redux! Personally I think the meaning is clear, but JC's stupid ruling on that feat in 05e probably only encourages this confusion about what I would have thought was a clear and straightforward meaning.

Level Up (A5E) Is Level Up: Advanced 5th Edition compatible with D&D 5E?

I think it's obvious by now that there are some limits to complete interoperability [which is a different thing to compatibility] between the 2 systems. The example of an o5e wizard and a a5e wizard in the same party is one of them, without some finessing by the DM/Narrator. Similarly, some...

Level Up (A5E) Press the Attack/Fall Back update

Wow, so that’s quite different! Expertise die not advantage No pile-ons Fall back does not make all your own attacks with disadvantage Neither movement provokes attacks of opportunity (this being unclear in the earlier draft)

Level Up (A5E) What A5E rules do you intend to import into an existing 5E campaign?

That's already a popular house rule in o5e, even with the stronger impacts of exhaustion ralative to fatigue. I'm trying it for the first time in my RHOD campaign and it's working well. People actually try to avoid dropping to 0hp!

Level Up (A5E) What are "Subtle Changes" in LU?

That’s always been true my friend 😀 “For each Hit Die spent in this way, the player rolls the die and adds the character’s Constitution modifier to it.” https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/basic-rules/adventuring#ShortRest

Level Up (A5E) Is Level Up: Advanced 5th Edition compatible with D&D 5E?

I think I'd check up on the 'subtle changes' thread in particular, Blue, as those are the ones that won't be as obvious as, say, combat maneuvers, etc. Also the spells winners and losers, if you're a spellcaster in a5e.

Level Up (A5E) Is Level Up: Advanced 5th Edition compatible with D&D 5E?

Rant, can I ask why you're even still posting here? You've made it abundantly clear you not only don't like Level Up at all, you don't actually want a new rules system. Furthemore, you think it's a terrible product that reflects badly on all involved, who clearly don't know anything about good...

Level Up (A5E) What are "Subtle Changes" in LU?

When flying: "willing movement made vertically downward costs half the distance (in feet) that it normally would" (AG454). Pretty sure this was in 3.5e (?) but not 5e. Cue dragons dive bombing 160 feet in a round AND attacking the party in the same turn :devilish:

Level Up (A5E) Regions Quick Reference Table for Level Up Journeys

I've created a quick reference table for the 17 regions described in Trials & Treasures. I hope you find it useful :) Page numbers and other changes made in the upcoming revision will be updated when that comes out. Through this process I also noticed a bunch of layout and other bugs, which I...

Indeed, and some of your resulting points were well made :)

Level Up (A5E) Playtest results using pregen characters

May I humbly suggest at this point it would be better to wait for the corrected wording before resuming this discussion? Because right now you're parsing words and sentences that will be different when the errata'd edition comes out.

Level Up (A5E) Crafting Rules and Artisan's Tools

Good point - I'd overlooked that it's still poor quality and liable to break again! It's also a bit vague what 'each use' means in the context of armour: each time you're hit? Each time you would have been hit but for the armour (ie. to hit rolls btween 10 and the armour AC)?

Level Up (A5E) Crafting Rules and Artisan's Tools

It's not a one use item though! See my comment #23 above. Broken in A5E does not mean word the word normally means.

Level Up (A5E) The Common Man

Um, the Commoner stat block is in the o5e Basic Rules.

Level Up (A5E) Classes: Winner and Losers

True, but having a 1st level '2nd lieutenant' (which my 30s google search tells me is the entry level commissioned officer rank in the army today) does.

Level Up (A5E) Crafting Rules and Artisan's Tools

Per AG p 324, "a broken weapon deals half damage" - so it's not useless, just less effective. Basically 1/2 price for 1/2 damage. For armour, it's 1/2 price for -1AC ... which of course opens up an exploit of a PC with smith's tools buying broken plate armour for 750gp and then spending a long...

Great discussion. Not sure if it's too late to log this as a bug. see below

    Level Up (A5E) Martial Class

I think it's pretty clear that you can't do commanding presence plus 1 of your 2 attacks under TWF, but it's absolutely certainly clear you can't use your BA to do it. If you were ever going to allow it as a house rule, you'd allow the BA off-hand attack, not the main hand attack.
