I think I mentioned it earlier, but this has turned into a long and interminable thread. I think I would make it a second level slot, give it 8 hour duration, and make it a buff that can add to existing AC. If this was the "Druid AC Solution" TM I would probably also eliminate medium armor...

This is the truth. If there was a better, non-concentration armor buff than barkskin on the druid spell list, I would happily forget all about the armor crap and just take the spell slot penalty...

I agree it would be very reasonable if that's what the rules said, but unfortunately, they really don't say that. I'd be cool with it as a houserule though!

I don't see it. Is there a reason that False Life stacks with other THP when other sources generally don't? (The other problem being that False Life isn't a druid spell?)

I think we're mostly on the same side of this argument. I give style points for druids who choose to not wear metal armor, but I think that's all it is, style. And style points don't really count for anything outside of good story telling, and if there's no good storytelling to go along with...

It's different because in the book they spell out specific mechanical detriments to doing the thing that the rule prohibits. The publishers of the book have instead said specifically that there really is no reason not to allow druids to use metal armor. They could very easily have said that...
