Critical Role Wildemount: Most Pre-orders Since D&D Core Rulebooks

I'm not very familiar with Critical Role, so I don't know what the fuss is about. Is there anything unique about Wildemount compared to Forgotten Realms, Eberron, etc? Didn't the CR folks already publish a world guide for 5e under Green Ronin?

D&D 5E Eberron Is Here Today!

Am I missing something, or are there no Eberron-specific subclasses beyond the three created for the Artificer? If so... WTF?!?!

D&D General Mechanics you DO want to see return

    1) Creatures that can only be hit by magical weapons. The idea of my nonmagical sword being able to damage a ghost (albeit at half damage) doesn't work for me. 2) Categories for saving throws similar to AD&D. Not the same, mind you, but in that spirit. Saves based solely on ability scores lacks...

D&D General How did/do you make your THAC0 attacks rolls?

What method did/do you use to make your combat rolls? In other words, did you adjust your THAC0 by the opponent's AC (as in the rules), or did you subtract your d20 roll from your THAC0 and tell the DM what AC you've hit? Or something else?

What are the most compelling reasons to switch from PF 1 to PF 2?

Sorry, I should have been more specific in my original post. To answer your questions, none of the above. We're deciding on what Adventure Path to play next: either one of the many PF1 APs, or the current PF2 AP. Given that it will take us close to a year to complete, it's a fairly big decision...

What are the most compelling reasons to switch from PF 1 to PF 2?

While I own PF2 and have read half of it, I have not yet played it. My gaming group has played it 3 times (I wasn't able to attend any of them). With that in mind, I'm feeling somewhat underwhelmed by the game. I do see some some improvements, especially in the way advancement feats are...

D&D 5E New Eberron Book Details From WotC

Have they decided to stick with the cover shown in the article? I thought WOTC had said it was just a placeholder, but the description on the WOTC website makes it sound like this is indeed the actual cover art.

D&D 5E Eberron: Rising from the Last War Coming For D&D In November

Good Gawd, that cover art is awful. It doesn't evoke Eberron's style and atmosphere at all.

D&D 5E Change the World as a Fate-Chosen in the Fateforge Core Rulebook

Is Eana the same world as in the Shadows of Esteren game?

Pathfinder 2E Do you like the use of iconic characters in the Pathfinder 1e and 2e artwork?

Pathfinder 2e has continued the use of the iconic characters from 1e, using the exact same characters. Do you like the use of iconic characters?

Pathfinder 2E Pathfinder 2e: is the binding of the special edition better than the standard edition?

I'm not impressed with the binding on the standard edition core rulebook. The covers feel like they will eventually tear away. Does anyone know if the deluxe edition is hardier?

D&D 5E Proficiency vs. Ability vs. Expertise

Thanks! I also just realized I originally said "3d6" rather than "2d6". Not that it really matters. Sorry to have hijacked the thread!

D&D 5E Proficiency vs. Ability vs. Expertise

The whole system has radical changes; it isn't house ruled D&D, but an entirely new thing that uses 5e concepts. There is no expertise or AC -- it uses armor as damage reduction, and attacks are opposed rolls. Skilled characters succeed far more often than non-skilled characters.

D&D 4E Where was 4e headed before it was canned?

I have vague recollections that WOTC had announced a Nentir Vale book and a "new" PHB that had errata-ed versions of the 4 core classes and the Warlord. Does anyone remember that? Were there other indicators as to where WOTC wanted 4e to go before deciding D&D needed a new edition?

D&D 5E Proficiency vs. Ability vs. Expertise

I agree with the original post in general. I think proficiency should trump ability mod pretty much all the time. I've been working on a game based on 5e that uses a 2d6 mechanic with adjusted DCs. The proficiency system stays at +2 to +6, but the ability mods max out at +3. I also allow skills...

Pathfinder 2E Here's The Official Pathfinder 2E Character Sheet

Yikes. That's hideous. Makes 2e look more complex than 1e.

Hm. Pretty bog standard stuff. Not very evocative.
