D&D 5E Rogue expertise and Perception

Yes. Your passive perception would be 16.

    D&D 5E duplicate proficiency

I don't see why it should only apply to backgrounds, since you only get one background, and it doesn't overlap with your class skills (notice how it's always "choose a few from this big list"). I think the rule means exactly what it says: if you somehow get some proficiency that you already...

D&D 5E DM Screen... what do you think we need?

Right now, the characters' personality traits and personal goals. After the DMG comes out, probably the exploration rules, wandering monster charts, and whatever other bits I want to use.

    D&D 5E Multiclassing: A pathological extreme

Presumably the first level was Bard? Actually, no, what am I saying? Fighter, Rogue, Druid, then Bard. (Also, I want to play this character right the :):):):) now)

    D&D 5E 5e question: dual hand crossbows

The crossbow feat gives you an extra attack with a hand crossbow as a bonus action. I think the intention was to use it with dual hand crossbows, but technically there's nothing stopping you from using it with one hand crossbow and a shield.

D&D 5E Heavy Armour for Life Domain?

The real answer: Because the aesthetic of the Cleric in original D&D was based on a medieval legend and a tapestry, both of which depicted priests fighting in armor with clubs. The Life cleric in fifth edition D&D is meant to replicate the Cleric of original D&D.

D&D 5E What direction do you want to see D&D 5e go?

Adventure modules, I guess. Scourge of the Sword Coast and Lost Mine of Phandelver are pretty decent. Dead in Thay and Tyranny of Dragons suffered too much from the constraints of OP. Actually, there's my answer right there. I want WotC to make adventures that aren't for OP. Unfortunately...

D&D 5E Bless and Bane spell

In situations like this, I always think of how it would go down if the PCs and NPCs were switched. DM: "The cleric raises his unholy symbol and cries out 'The blessing of Tiamat upon us!' The other cultists look heartened." Players: "Goddammit. Kill that guy first."

    Module suggestions

Most modules are much more verbose than BotB. That's the main reason I like BotB so much.

D&D 5E Does anyone who got an mm at Gencon want to offer up spoilers to us?

Could someone please post a clearer picture of the index of stat blocks?

    Character Sheet Feedback

To be honest, I must admit the official 5e sheet appeals to me more than yours--they're very similar, but WotC obviously has more resources to polish it. The WotC sheet seems to have more room to write stuff, and looks prettier. But since you're asking for feedback... Spell sheet needs to be...

D&D 5E Frequency of Saves in the Monster Manual

Probably because dragons, demons, and devils (things that shoot fire at you) are all at D, and all the cool undead are near the end of the alphabet (vampire, wraith, spectre, etc.). The appendices would probably be interesting, I bet there might be a few Str and Con saves in there (I think...

D&D 5E Question with regards to number of cantrips known.

Correct. Your Cleric spellcasting and your Warlock pact magic are totally separate abilities, except that you can cast Cleric spells with your Warlock slots and vice-versa. No matter which slots you use, your Cleric spells that you prepare always use Wis, and your Warlock spells that you know...

D&D 5E Those of you who have actually PLAYED 5e...

Oh yeah, and bonus actions. You only get one per turn, and two-weapon fighting uses it.

D&D 5E now that FR is the generic setting, is darksun also by extension?

Dark Sun is a different planet than FR. It's surrounded by some special border that most planar travel can't go through.

D&D 5E now that FR is the generic setting, is darksun also by extension?

Dark Sun isn't connected to FR at all. Al-Qadim is; is that what you meant?

D&D 5E Those of you who have actually PLAYED 5e...

Yep. As you* run more TotM, you'll develop little mental tricks to keep track of it, and verbal tricks to describe it. Little recaps help a lot. I like to say things like "So the zombies are engaging the Fighter and the Ranger, the skeletons are up on the balcony shooting arrows at the Wizard...

D&D 5E What style of encounter design is 5th going for?

Sure the game can handle it, but what I'm saying is that there only seem to be rules for 4e-style encounter building (currently).

D&D 5E Those of you who have actually PLAYED 5e...

My advice: Don't worry about rules. If you've taken a passing glance at the book or the character sheets, you know enough to run a game. Everything works pretty much like you expect it to. If in doubt, roll for it. If the roll is good enough, then "sure, it works." If you come up against a rules...
