    Today I learned +

Today I learned of the narluga, a narwhal/beluga hybrid. About a dozen of them live in the wild and seven are in captivity. They seem to exist due to climate change making both species encounter each other more often.

California bill (AB 412) would effectively ban open-source generative AI

I was answering to @Bohandas in speciffic who claimed to easily be able to afford an artBreeder and a NovelAi subscription. Paying for both is about $50 to $60 a month, enough to pay a few art commissions. Locally run AIs produce smaller images with more defects and artifacts, and they require...

California bill (AB 412) would effectively ban open-source generative AI

Reading on LAION, it seems they don't host themselves any copyrighted material but their own work. They might qualify for the same exception that allows that page to keep operating, or they might not if they have a considerable overlap of people involved. Either way, we need a lawsuit to...

Which is a reason artists have left DA in droves.

Also, clothes making still requires human labor despite the machines. (And relatively skilled)

California bill (AB 412) would effectively ban open-source generative AI

So far most of the people affected are from the 99%. Most of the scrapped material comes from small creators. I'm sure scrappers have barely touched big media property. Good and bad news with this. You can enjoy these tools for now at a substantially reduced cost. The only reason you can afford...

Good luck with that. Art training just by looking at other people's art is extremely difficult. A lot of it is study, experimentation and even philisophy.

AI is going to hack us.

No matter how disturbing AI hallucinations get, they cannot match some people's alternate realities. Also, did I mention Gen-AI cannot be controlled?

AI is going to hack us.

Apparently long term usage of AI causes people to lose cognitive function. (I'm so scared of it, I don't even want to use spellchecking n_n) It is a silver lining ar least that in the future people cheating through AI will not be smart enough to hide their cheating.

California bill (AB 412) would effectively ban open-source generative AI

This is about generative AI. AI for research works differently and is trained on raw data -pure "facts"- which isn't copyrightable. With this on the books no big company can stop a small competitor any more than they can already -through the very broken patent system-. Proponents of gen AI try...

Neural networks lack subjectivity. They don't feel, have wants/needs, frustrations/experiences/traumas. Training doesn't change the way the models 'perceive' new information. On the other hand human experiences change the way we connect with a work. Sometimes biology can change the way we...

    What Are Your Non-Gaming Hobbies/Interests?

I wish I had the time and disipline to practice with the keyboard enough to learn it. And well, my singing voice is not good.

    What Are Your Non-Gaming Hobbies/Interests?

cooking/baking (I'm into making wheat-free and sugar-free pastries, but I also use wheat and sugar) sewing/making plushies (though is been a while, fabric isn't cheap) drawing, painting, writing collecting music, movies, books, mangas, and comics(mainly nineties comics) LEGO

I think the barrier to entry is so high already that the "little guy" is still someone worth at least seven figures. No way I'm training anything close to a usable model on my $500 five-year-old laptop. I don't even think a top of the line gaming rig is anywhere close to enough. (though maybe I...

You're talking as if it was a bad thing. You know, there's always public domain stuff like Guttenberg library?

More like they are forcing companies in the state/with connection in the state to disclose all copyrighted material used in training or force some heavy consequence.

If OP is considering PoD on Drivethru, they'll need to pony up cash to one of these pre-approved designers and all of this is kinda moot.

OP didn't mention PoD being a factor, and they mentioned money being a problem. That's why I mentioned Scribus instead of Affinity. Why did DMsGuild stopped accepting pdfs made with Scribus?

D&D 3E/3.5 Formatting/Page Appearance Suggestions and Tips For Publishing

Divide the page on a 9x9 grid. Make a 6x6 box on the lower-outer corner. Move the box two little rectangles up and two little rectangles towards the spine. The box is the space for your text and art.
