D&D General No More Baldur's Gate From Larion: Team Is 'Elated'

    That’s often a distinction without a difference.

And I, for one, enjoy Matt Mercer’s setting much more that the Forgotten Realms, Dragonlance, or Barovia. I’m generally not a fan of Greenwood’s and Weis’/Hickman’s work.

    D&D (2024) Here's The New 2024 Player's Handbook Wizard Art

The people that commonly complain about people with disabilities being present in fantasy worlds. If you’re not one of them, fine, your arguments are just pretty similar. I allow the spell to help people, but lesser restoration is clearly intended to remedy more minor, temporary effects, like a...

    D&D (2024) Here's The New 2024 Player's Handbook Wizard Art

You’re just making a lot of the same arguments that those people do. And I definitely wouldn’t rule that Lesser Restoration works as magic lasik. The spell doesn’t imply that at all.

I agree. I once created a Carcosa domain of dread for a spelljammer campaign I never ended up running.

It’s also literally in D&D in the form of at least 3 different spells (Leomund’s tiny hut, wall of force, Otiluke’s resilient sphere), and was in the D&D movie too. I never saw anyone complain about Simon in Honor Among Thieves being “anime” when it came out.

The magic tendrils that flow from his legs/hips is really giving eldritch horror vibes. Reminds me of this piece of art I saw a while ago: https://kinginyellow.fandom.com/wiki/Hastur

D&D General Art Thread! What does a D&D wizard look like?

The wizard is about knowledge, having to practice and prepare their spells for years/decades in order to master the art of magic. Their main visual characteristic is their “spell book,” which doesn’t have to be a book, just something they can store spells on. This can take the form of the...

Yeah, this is giving me huge “I don’t like that it brought people into the hobby, now they’re changing things and don’t understand true/my D&D”-gatekeeping vibes. It’s okay to dislike Critical Role. It’s the “but they’re changing things” and their evasiveness of saying what they specifically...

It specifically reminds me of some Strixhaven art, with the floating magic symbols. Not a criticism. I like this art.

The "I Didn't Comment in Another Thread" Thread

Some people even make good points, but I just cannot stand them because of this. It’s extremely irritating to agree with someone but hate how they say it.

Those two are this close to going on rants about “Pineapple enjoyers are ruining all pizza.” I’d respect them more if they stopped using dog whistles and actually said what they meant. Which would probably (rightfully) get them banned, but that’s a win in my book.

WotC has always used outside consultants in 5e. I don’t know about pre-5e, but just check the credits of the core rulebooks. It might be partially a marketing ploy, but Mercer has worked on official 5e books before. This isn’t weird or new.
