WotC may have sent the Pinkertons to a magic leakers home. Update: WotC confirms it and has a response.

Doesn’t change the fact that I bought card, I own card. It’s a physical good. Now, intellectual property (or copyright), in this case, means I can’t make copies of the card and sell them. That’s it. The physical card belongs to the buyer. 1000%. Oh, did a sketchy retail seller break street date...

WotC may have sent the Pinkertons to a magic leakers home. Update: WotC confirms it and has a response.

We are dealing with physical goods, here, intellectual property doesn’t really apply. I buy cards, I own cards. Again, if the guy bought from a retailer that broke street date, he has done literally nothing wrong and he legitimately owned the cards that were taken from him with suspect means...

WotC may have sent the Pinkertons to a magic leakers home. Update: WotC confirms it and has a response.

So you’re just assuming that the cards were stolen and the YouTuber is guilty of fencing. Quite a claim, and one I see no reason to believe (or make, really, but you do you). Even if I were to entertain the idea that the goods were stolen and the guy knowingly bought stolen goods, WotC reaction...

WotC may have sent the Pinkertons to a magic leakers home. Update: WotC confirms it and has a response.

First off, there is such a thing as a bona fide purchaser, and at least in my country and legal system such position is protected (can’t be sure about the US and its states, but I’d assume something like that exists over there as well). Second, your example is a really obvious instance of...

WotC may have sent the Pinkertons to a magic leakers home. Update: WotC confirms it and has a response.

Their property? If the guy bought the cards, they were his property. He wasn’t the one who (mistakenly or willingly) broke street date. The retailer did. The guy had no obligation towards WotC, the retailer did, he just purchased a product. I’m astounded that people are defending WotC for...

WotC may have sent the Pinkertons to a magic leakers home. Update: WotC confirms it and has a response.

And here I was, thinking “WotC is lawful evil” was just a meme. Now they’re hiring infamous merc outfits to intimidate people at their homes. Yeah I don’t think I’m ever buying WotC products ever again. I was on the fence after the OGL disaster, but this is so insane it’s funny.

D&D (2024) The impending mess that will be backwards compatibility

Eh, while this is true to a degree, it sure as hell beats having a game plagued by issues, IMO. In its end state, 4e was a far better game than what it started as, and the fact that they managed to do all that and keep full backwards compatibility with any published player options was impressive.

D&D General What is two weapon fighting good for?

I just ran some numbers by hand (not as good as a software, but it is what it is) for levels between 5 and 11, using the fighter class. Great Weapon Masters are DPR kings when AC is low or they have to hit bonuses outside the baseline (Bless, magic weapons, advantage, precision strike). Polearm...

D&D General What is two weapon fighting good for?

The idea there is that as long as you're holding a weapon in one hand and a weapon in the other, you get a +1 AC with that style. Of course, if you are dual wielding longswords (without the Dual Wielder feat), that's all you're getting, because the TWF rule still requires light weapons. I...

D&D General What is two weapon fighting good for?

My experience with Solasta is unfortunately zero, so I can't really add anything in that regard. Basically, my point (and the point of my previous analysis) is this: TWF starts falling off in terms of damage compared to other fighting styles at level 5. Before level 5, it can be the strongest...

D&D General What is two weapon fighting good for?

Here's the new iteration of my TWF house rule. All critiques and opinions are welcome! First, a change to the Fighting Style itself: Two-Weapon Fighting When you engage in two-weapon fighting, you can add your ability modifier to the damage of the second attack. Also, Whenever you are wielding...

D&D General What is two weapon fighting good for?

Ok, let's ignore everything that happens above 10th level, for the reason you cited. A 5th TWF level fighter (standard array) will have 16-17 STR or DEX, TWF fighting style and the dual wield feat. This fighter, using its attack and bonus actions, will make 3 attacks, with +6 to hit, each of...

D&D General What is two weapon fighting good for?

The tremendous synergy between TWF and sneak attack is well known and I don’t think anyone will ever dispute it. I’m more doubtful about the usefulness of TWF for everybody else, especially past 5th level. It just doesn’t scale well with extra attacks, and it eating a bonus action every round...

D&D General What is two weapon fighting good for?

That was an extremely useful read, thank you. Based on the posts there, some of them coming from posters that seem to have fencing experience, I may pivot my HR from being defense/AoE based to being defense/feinting based.

D&D General What is two weapon fighting good for?

Great fight scene, that one. Also a good example of a TWFing combatant fending off opponents from multiple sides thanks to having two weapons!

You know, that's not a bad idea at all.

Ok, that's what I was asking. Thank you.

D&D General What is two weapon fighting good for?

Well, of course, I wasn't talking game mechanics there, I was talking aesthetics. Game balance wise, IMO, TWF is extremely optimal for rogues (to the degree that a non-ranged, non-TWFing rogue is actively gimping itself hard), can be optimal for some builds especially at earlier levels, and is...

D&D General What is two weapon fighting good for?

Yes, but with the added option to attack an extra target, instead (possibly several times if you have extra attack, especially the high level fighter version of extra attack). Do you believe that option to be completely inconsequential? I'm not being ironic or sarcastic here, just straight up...

D&D General What is two weapon fighting good for?

I'd leave the rogue situation alone for a moment, I have already recognized they would require a separate buff to compensate. Yeah, the more I think and talk about it, the more realize I really dislike the aesthetic of two weapon fighters flailing, swinging, or stabbing with both of their...
