D&D 5E does it seem lke tcoe Order of scribes wizard is largely solutions in search of a problem dressed up as an archetype?

Yah, this is kinda the problem in my mind. It's just better at casting spells. That's not really a subclass, it's just Wizard+.

Probably not, but to be honest that's probably because designing a generalist wizard is pretty difficult.

The whole point is that he did not have a complete version of Teleportation Circle though, so I'm not sure why it would be in there? The spellbook at the very least would have the standard mage npc spells, and probably should have glyph of warding since the book says he has casted it.

    D&D 5E New Tasha's Blasters

The enemy just ends up targeting a different member of the party in that case, and the party will still often mess up any attempts at surprise. Plus, depending on the terrain you'll be going through a bunch of Greater Invisibility spells.

    D&D 5E New Tasha's Blasters

True. I sometimes forget about the spell since I've tuned it down a bit my games.

    D&D 5E New Tasha's Blasters

Stealth is hard to pull off in a party situation unless your whole party is geared around it, which generally does not happen in my experience.

D&D 5E Spell Versatility is GONE. Rejoice!

I had an idea for a wizard subclass that combined Evocation and Enchantment magic, and would reward a character who took spells from each school. I never ended up ironing out the details but maybe I'll go back and work on it.

D&D 5E Spell Versatility is GONE. Rejoice!

I looked back and found the response to the point, which I did miss previously admittedly. I don't necessarily agree with the response, but regardless it has been addressed.

D&D 5E Spell Versatility is GONE. Rejoice!

If Spell Versatility killed the wizard, it was dead on arrival thanks to Clerics and Druids anyway. I wasn't even a huge fan of the ability, but it was far less powerful than again, Clerics and Druids, who could do the same thing but on greater scope.

D&D 5E Aberrant Mind's Psionic Sorcery is officially the most powerful feature.

It's how I would rule as a DM. Trying to divorce HP knowledge from players and their characters has too many headaches that start popping up. Can a character know if they are close to dying? Can a cleric accurately tell who needs healing the most? Does the player get to know about the hidden...

A headache that can literally kill you. The kind of pain you'd be in would definitely exclude someone from thinking it's an ordinary occurrence

If you take damage, you know you took damage. You might not know the exact source of said damage, but when my hypothetical barbarian suddenly loses 15 hit points I'm not just going to stand there and comment on how it must be the wind or something.

D&D 5E Spell Versatility is GONE. Rejoice!

Is there really a careful balance between wizards and sorcerers to be obliterated? Wizards already get class features that function like sorcery points (Arcane Recovery) and Metamagic (Sculpt Spell, Overchannel, Split Enchantment, Alter Memories, the new Tasha's feature that swaps elemental...

D&D 5E Aberrant Mind's Psionic Sorcery is officially the most powerful feature.

Yah, I know people already have pointed out the issue, I just wanted to bring up that we have seen a cast with points ability before that did have that specific wording, since I didn't see anyone else point it out, unless I missed it.

D&D 5E Aberrant Mind's Psionic Sorcery is officially the most powerful feature.

So, long time lurker, but I wanted to mention on the Psionic Spell and upcasting discussion, that unless it actually states you can use additional points to cast it in a higher level "slot", then you probably can't given precedence from the monk. Both Way of Elements and Way of the Sun Soul have...
