    Avenger, the headache class?

Well that's the classic tactic of putting monsters between a rock and hard place. It's the best tactic. That's why a true fighter is invaluable for a party. He is the permanent rock. And everyone else can play the hard place if they have something to offer. It's fun to see the DM break sweat...

Frustrated with Barbarian paragon paths. If you MC you are always better off

Barbarian Agility really improved the situation though, compared to the playtest.

Hey Logan Bonner or Mike Mearls, how to handle free actions after charge?

I once posted a thread here and asked for one of the designers to please step up and explain Rain of Blows. And Logan Bonner posted an answer that settled the dispute! That was before the errata, and very helpful! Perhaps one of you guys can settle one of the longest lasting disputes - how to...

    Swit Charge Question

Customer Service has apparently issued a lot of conflicting statements. And one of the more interesting is this: Google cache of gleemax thread since gleemax is messed up

    Avenger, the headache class?

You all make great points. What I've noticed in general after playing D&D again for one year is this: All powers, feats, class abilities, paragon path features etc can be divided into two groups: Group A: Grants a benefit that applies either all the time, or exactly when the player needs it...

    Avenger, the headache class?

I think it explains why I haven't seen many avengers in my games...

    Avenger, the headache class?

I think Oath of enmity is the core feature of the avenger. As I said, the 2d20 is really good and satisfying. But there is another limitation that encourages "unnatural" battle tactics: You don't like other enemies adjacent besides the Oath target. This means you shift into odd positions...

    Swit Charge Question

The difference is that rampage and swift charge are triggered actions. The barb can't help it - they just happen! In another thread I argued with the image of a dud. The rules don't allow duds. The Warden mark on the other hand is not triggered. The bottom line is I wished they had added some...

    Avenger, the headache class?

OK I can also brag about how much I love the barbarian mechanics! It's the complete opposite. You attack in the face, you add up weapons and feats that kill better and harder, and you get free attacks left and right. Great - and almost nothing the DM can do about that!

    Swit Charge Question

There seems to be a very articulate fraction here that thinks the world ends when charges end. Fact is, nobody can take my free (!) triggered (!) actions away from me. If you try, I'll rampage all over your rulebooks!

    Avenger, the headache class?

Rolling 2 d20 is great, but the rest? Censure of Pursuit "If your oath of enmity target moves away from you willingly" - that's one big if. I can't stand it when a core feature depends on others to function. In practice you become a defender and nothing happens. Censure of Retribution "When...

Frustrated with Barbarian paragon paths. If you MC you are always better off

A Dwarf Barbarian Dreadnought with Bloodclaw Execution Axe, Cloak of the Walking Wounded, Belt of Blood, and Bloodiron Armor (screw Barbarian Agility) is a truly ugly destruction machine. I highly recommend it. Only problem, with Storm of Blades you want to increase your attack roll modifier as...

Horned Champion looks OK to me. Works well with Polearm Gamble/Momentum, hahaha.

Rolling 4d20 on attacks with Oathsworn?

Yeah sorry, I didn't get the fine distintion between rolling twice and rerolling.

Frustrated with Barbarian paragon paths. If you MC you are always better off

Kensei alone beats all barbarian paths. You get a +1 to attack rolls, and +4 to damage. Or Dreadnought, which makes you a really tough bastard, and save automatically against hindering conditions, like immobilized. Or Warpriest, which gives + half your level on damage during action point (think...

Rolling 4d20 on attacks with Oathsworn?

From Oath of Enmity: From Oathsworn PP: That's really nice for multi-attacks like Storm of Blades.

    Relentless Slayer (Avenger PP) question

The level 12 utility, Relentless Fervor, confuses me. Since the oath of enmity power only works if the oath target is the only adjacent enemy, how can you possibly make an attack against another target? This works only with reach weapons (not a good choice for avengers to begin with) or some...

    Help crafting an Eladrin Fighter

Greatspear means you eventually will go for the whole Polearm cheese (gamble, momentum), including the Swift Spear feat from Dragon 378 that allows you to slide 1 on OA's. The concept is totally different from your tempest fighter. The problem with polearm fighters is the fail at their role as...

Frustrated with Barbarian paragon paths. If you MC you are always better off

I find it tremendously annoying that the barbarian PP all suck. OK they are not totally terrible, but for STR based melee characters there are plenty of PP in other classes that are way better. Even some Avenger PP are better. For MC fighters you get access to good PP like Dreadnought, Pit...
