D&D 5E What's the rush? Has the "here and now" been replaced by the "next level" attitude?

Umm, actually I don't care for a rushed game either. I guess maybe some of the later editions cater to them. Not sure, since I play B/X if I want an RPG and WarmaHordes, Anima Tactics, or Helldorado if I want to play with miniatures. Seriously, play what your group likes. If some other table...

D&D 5E What's the rush? Has the "here and now" been replaced by the "next level" attitude?

Actually, Luke may be a Jedi through half the movie, but doesn't learn to give in and use the power until that last shot in the trench. If you don't like the roleplay of an RPG, find a group that feel as you do and play the game the same way. Don't tell us we're wrong for playing the game we...

    Help Improving "fetch" quests

No need to track hundreds of currencies if you aren't using an abstracted currency. In ancient cultures, discs of a precious metal with the same approximate weight had the same value regardless of the image struck on the face. Picture the ancient merchant testing the gold by biting into it...

D&D 5E Would a repeat of the large errata from the previous edition put you off of Next?

This is all I ask. Don't be sloppy because you have a website to use for issuing corrections. A horribly scripted website that I never look at. Sell me a book that is usable.

D&D 5E Move Attack Move: Issues with The New Standard for Combat

And, if you are using miniatures on 25mm bases, it is pretty easy to see how well a human sized creature can fill a 6x6 space.

    'Student' athletes

Well I support the athletics of the university I attended through season tickets and the booster organization. I see many of these nasty student athletes donating time to delivering meals to the elderly, coaching kids at the Y, doing other charitable activities. Yes, it is a public university...

    'Student' athletes

CBS pays NCAA $10.8 billion to televise "March Madness". I imagine that the total broadcasting rights across all networks and all collegiate sports is staggering. Football and Basketball revenue helps pay scholarships in a lot of other sports. Most scholar athletes do not expect pro contracts...

D&D 5E Move Attack Move: Issues with The New Standard for Combat

Ok, I'm thinking Knock Down or Grapple could effectively clog the lane. Since each Duergar needs to stop in the gridspace next to the Fighter to make a melee attack, making sure that space is occupied breaks the conga line. Does this work or am I missing an interpretation somewhere?

    D&D 5E D&DNext WotC Adventures

Back to topic would really just be a listing of DDN adventures. Back to the first tangent would be discussing SotSC having too much 'story' elements to wade through to find the adventure. I see what WotC is doing to progress their in-store journey whatever thing. But many groups aren't...

D&D 5E Move Attack Move: Issues with The New Standard for Combat

This, I like. Turn the fighter into what miniatures gamers call a 'tarpit' unit. I had thought the same about using Knock Down, which is already a usable combat action.

D&D 5E Move Attack Move: Issues with The New Standard for Combat

Dodge is on p.17 of "How to Play" (Ghost of Dragonspear Castle). Attack rolls against you have disadvantage. You make Dex saving throws with advantage.

This. An occupied square should at least limit movement if not block it completely.

D&D 5E Move Attack Move: Issues with The New Standard for Combat

Considering that the actor uses half movement to get to the fighter and half to get back, how many could realistically make it down a corridor to melee range? 3?

D&D 5E What's the rush? Has the "here and now" been replaced by the "next level" attitude?

May I suggest: 4. Everyone wants to be the superhero. Even though people cheer for the underdog, they hate being one. I've always loved low levels because you played a normal Joe that had a few skills that set him/her apart from the crowd. After level 10 or so, I could never relate to the PC.

D&D 5E Move Attack Move: Issues with The New Standard for Combat

True. I just think this topic illustrates how easy it is to "game" the MAM system. I like continuation of your move, with limitations. Pop out, fire, pop back? Yes Run to target, swing your weapon, continue your forward movement (allowing a veer to right or left)? Yes Run to target, swing...

D&D 5E Move Attack Move: Issues with The New Standard for Combat

If the passage was narrow enough for a single fighter to hold one end, how were the duergar able to pass each other in the "conga line" formation required for them to strike sequentially? IMO, if they share initiative as a group, they should move as a group and could only give 1-2 duergar a...

    D&D 5E What belongs in a $50 PHB?

Our group all DM'd, there was no separate DMG, and we never used things like magic items as-written, but more as a suggestion. Spells were only available once you found a spellbook or another magic user willing to share his knowledge. Stuff in the world had to be acquired, then tested to see...

Even after the GAMA reveal, it looks like it is playable without the DMG.
