D&D 5E Tasha's really improved and changed the feel of Rangers

...when magic is being used. Is this a trick question?

D&D 5E Tasha's really improved and changed the feel of Rangers

???? My ranger had no spells, but worked alongside an invoker who had plenty of spells...what are you talking about?

D&D General Why is tradition (in D&D) important to you? [+]

You tried! :D Having read more than a few interviews with the designers behind 4e, they were most certainly not making change just for change's sake. They really believed in the game on its own merits and not simply because it's different.

D&D General Now That We Have HeroQuest, Do We Need D&D?

I originally read this as "who aren't tired yet," and it made perfect sense to me, at 46 with a bedtime closer to 9.

D&D General Wizards are not rational/scientists

Agreed! I just wish this other component was reflected in the rules system.

Pathfinder 2E Paizo drops use of the word phylactery

A lot? What else are you thinking of? As well, are these things used in the game in an exclusively evil context like phylacteries for liches?

    Also an excellent choice! :)

    Your favorite TV/movie fight scene

Favourite Superhero is Daredevil and while I love me some Rohirimm, this scene was just marvelously done:

D&D 5E Respect Mah Authoritah: Thoughts on DM and Player Authority in 5e

Could not agree more. One thing about this situation that I am surprised no one really addresses (AFAICT) is that it's a shut-down of an ability that I just can't see being used very often. Like, if I was the player, I might love that I FINALLY get to use this ability that comes with being a...

D&D 5E New D&D WotC survey! On classes.

13th Age has a Necromancer separate from the Wizard and it works really well. It's possible if one is willing to do away with the subclasses based on school (with little to differentiate them).

D&D General Why Exploration Is the Worst Pillar

There's not a lot of meat on the exploration rules in 5e (AiME notwithstanding). There seems to be a decent level of creativity amongst DMs here to make up for that lack, making exploration in their games fun. Both statements are true. One can't use the second statement to refute the first...

#RPGaDAY Day 11: Which ‘dead game’ would you like to see reborn?

I tried to convert DC Heroes back in the day to the Marvel system, but it was trickier than it seemed at first blush. For all the FASERIP fans, how did you deal with the "absolutes" of the game? E.g. Beetle has Excellent protection against physical attacks, and Daredevil can only do Excellent...

D&D General Some thoughts on Moral Philosophies in D&D

It ceases to be about morality then, no? What you've described above is a system of economics, period.

D&D General Some thoughts on Moral Philosophies in D&D

    No mention of Virtue Ethics?

D&D General Do players even like the risk of death?

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this, but Jonathan Tweet uses a rule in 13th Age that PCs can only die when in combat against "named villains." In other circumstances, they might be captured, suffer a campaign loss, a lasting personal injury, etc...but not death. Adds excitement to the...

D&D General Kobayashi Maru: Should the fate of the character always be in the player's hands? POLL

I don't either, and yet, upon reading this...is it that bad? So it turns out the game's main plot is the retrieval of the artifact from the BBEG, a twist from the "uncover the lost artifact." Sets up a long-term bad guy that will be more satisfying to take down...I dunno. I might have stuck...

D&D 5E Revisiting RAW Darkness Spell

I suppose because games need easy-to-understand rules, whereas life is just...whatever. The adjective is used to make sure people don't interpret it as "your visual organs are malfunctioning and not working" not to add "degrees of blindness" to the game.
