Level Up (A5E) Help me make a necromancer archetype

Slight necro (pun intended). Does it cost an (bonus) action to command the Created Minion? If not: Is this not way more powerful than a beastmaster's companion? It feels like at (e.g.) lvl 10, a Revenant or Wraith would wipe the floor with Mr. Snuffles and his 40 temp HP. Wraith being even more...

Homebrew Level Up Roll20 Character Sheet is live!

Sounds good as well. Proficiency would be one to add to these I think.

Homebrew Level Up Roll20 Character Sheet is live!

Is there a way to add expertise dice to a saving throw? (As would be the case for Dex saves when wielding heavy shields) And on an unrelated note: Would it be possible to have a field for inspiration? Could be a simple checkbox or something next to the Destiny.

Level Up (A5E) Best Beginner Build

I think the full spellcasters (maybe except Bard) are almost the same level of complexity as they are in O5E, and I found O5E spellcasters perfectly suitable even for newer players. While not exactly as simple as rolling a d20 and add +5 to hit every turn, playing a spellcaster is really not...

Level Up (A5E) Eldritch Scythe vs Pact Weapon Invocations. What is the point.

Sure, but the only difference between Thirsting Blade and Extra Attack are the words "with your pact weapon", which I would interpret as exactly that: Extra attack, but only with the pact weapon. So there is a problem when I forgo both, but not if I forgo one of the attacks? I don't see why...

Level Up (A5E) Eldritch Scythe vs Pact Weapon Invocations. What is the point.

No I really don't think that is how it should be ruled. If so, would the Extra Attack feature on the Marshal not allow him to make an additional attack after using Commanding Presence either? "Beginning at 5th level, you can attack twice, instead of once, whenever you take the Attack action on...

Level Up (A5E) Eldritch Scythe vs Pact Weapon Invocations. What is the point.

What makes you say so? Thirsting Blade: You can attack with your pact weapon twice, instead of once, whenever you take the Attack action on your turn. Commanding Presence: When you take the Attack action, you can forgo making one attack to allow a friendly creature within range of your...

Level Up (A5E) Is Pact of the Blade worth it

Good catch. I don't think so though, but the wording on Thirsting Blade is very similar. I am certain Thirsting Blade doesn't stack with extra attack though, if you were to get it via lvl 5 Fighter for example. But the stacking of Extra Attack is only excluded by the multiclassing rules I think?

Homebrew Level Up Roll20 Character Sheet is live!

I have figured this one out. It works for all other types of rolling initiative (except for Dexterity (vehicles), which doesn't work at all). It indeed does not add to initiative rolls using Dexterity (Base).

Level Up (A5E) Eldritch Scythe vs Pact Weapon Invocations. What is the point.

Quoting myself from the other topic about Pact of the Blade: Not ideal, but strong action economy allowing for full-size Eldritch Scythe as well as some benefit from the otherwise wasted multi-attack. Depending on the ally, it becomes very likely that you out-damage double attacking with the...

Level Up (A5E) The numbers on artisan tools

In the end I bothered anyways... An update to the table which shows the expected profit per hour given a few skill bonuses. Even though the initial cost of Jeweler's tools are high, the expected turnout of a single roll (8 hours) is 10 gp. If you are unlucky in the beginning, you could...

Level Up (A5E) Is Pact of the Blade worth it

There is a way of utilizing both Thirsting Blade (extra attack with pact weapon) and Extra Blast (more Eldritch Scythe attacks), but it doesn't actually use your pact weapon. You do this by taking a level of Marshal, and with your two attacks you give one to your ally (preferably one with...

    Level Up (A5E) Stealth Expert

Well... I don't know which of your questions were left unanswered... I cited from the book, as you asked, showed you what the difference between the two obscurements is, and why only one of those two validates Hide checks, because being seen ends Hidden (as explained right after the initial part...

    Level Up (A5E) Stealth Expert

I do not mean this in any vague way. I mean via the conditions mentioned: behind something, obscured, invisible, or otherwise out of sight. I do not know where you got this impression... This was in the case of a roaring waterfall in the middle of the night and other examples you mentioned (no...

3PP Release (3rd Party Book Release) Paranormal Power: A Psionics Option for 5e and A5e, written by Steampunkette!

Ah... The sneaky space... Must be my conditioning, it does make way more sense that it would be 1 d6 instead of 1d6 🙃 Thanks!

...or olfactory or whatever other means of perception they might possess... Whether or not it makes sense is a different question altogether. But my point was mostly the first paragraph: as long as you are not hidden, people know your position. That is the (only) difference between hidden and...

Level Up (A5E) Planting Tower Shields

One very good reason would be to do it the other way around: Shoot with a crossbow (bad example due to available hands and "wielding") throw a spear, unplant the shield, move to a more advantageous position, plant it again.

3PP Release (3rd Party Book Release) Paranormal Power: A Psionics Option for 5e and A5e, written by Steampunkette!

One tiny question about the Mind's Eye archetype (sample page 30)... It states you get a reservoir of 1d6 dice. I imagine 1d6 is the size of the die, not of the reservoir. Which leaves the question: how many are in my reservoir? All this looks amazing by the way!

    Level Up (A5E) Stealth Expert

The difference between having the "seer" blinded and being hidden is that in the blinded case the seer makes attacks with disadvantage and fails ability checks relying on sight, and you attack it with advantage, while being hidden also hides your position. In combat you are automatically aware...
