    D&D 5E Wandering Monsters: Creepy and Crawly—Simultaneously!

What I am saying is, we need monster design to be significantly more clear because DMs love to create their own versions of critters. What I personally prefer and I understand it is not everyone's cup of tea is a building blocks design; this is what a medium humanoid can do in this system; make...

    D&D 5E June 17 Legend & Lore - Playtesting Dragons

It also robs the dragon of the strategic power of responsiveness. It's entirely different to be able to use a tail swipe right after that mage hit me with a spell to get rid of him with using a tail swipe when it's my turn again. Indeed the initiative order of combat resolution is one of the...

    D&D 5E Wandering Monsters: Creepy and Crawly—Simultaneously!

Well yes I can see entries for humans in the bestiary but they have integrated some kind of role in them. None of them depict a race. Otherwise if say, a human commoner was the base human, then all human characters should have access to pack tactics, right?

    D&D 5E June 17 Legend & Lore - Playtesting Dragons

Would it be easy to stop a dragon to flee within the context of the game world (system aside) or was it easy to stop them in any past editions? We cannot really pin a dragon, never had the kind of rules that would let us shred its wings, at best we could hope for a magic effect to grapple them...

    D&D 5E Wandering Monsters: Creepy and Crawly—Simultaneously!

Actually a human, dwarf or elf do not even exist without class levels. They need to be defined by the class system first to become creatures in the system.

Leading to the awesome cheese that is monsters with class levels in 3.5:)

    D&D 5E Wandering Monsters: Creepy and Crawly—Simultaneously!

Don't ask me, I agree with our new alien overlord. If two creatures have specific sizes and the same bodytypes, their stats should be roughly the same. It really goes into what stats are in D&D and that is a can of worms since I am sure noone has ever managed to get a consensus on what...

    D&D 5E Wandering Monsters: Creepy and Crawly—Simultaneously!

Curious but why do you see giants as that magical? Before 4E only storm & cloud giants had such abilities (and stone giant elders ofc). Do we expect giants in DDN to keep their elemental nature?

But the presentation can be done outside stat blocks. Use all the space saved from reproducing the same stat block with minute differences to add images and ecology blurps for the different things that are represented by the stat block. Dragons could have one stat primary stat block per size on...

    D&D 5E Wandering Monsters: Creepy and Crawly—Simultaneously!

Good god people, if that snark was directed against a fellow forum member, would you feel comfortable with it? D&D has a massive list of monsters. Massive. I'd rather we at this point focus on what we want in the first Monster Manual, maybe the second. I really don't think you need Giant Bees...

    D&D 5E Wandering Monsters: Creepy and Crawly—Simultaneously!

Lolth demands that the myrlochar and chwindencha (did I spell that right?) are part of DDN. And Vulkor's sting upon you if we do not get scorpion swarms!

    D&D 5E New L&L When Adventurers Aren’t Adventuring

Wow doesn't do it like this, but the Star Wars MMO does something similar. And regardless I am mostly talking about CRPGs not MMOs. 3.5 in the later years was accruing such systems as well (DMG2 was choke full of them). My only concern is that a major balance issue in D&D has always been the...

D&D 5E [Warlords] Should D&D be tied to D&D Worlds?

Another vote on having a Warlord and non-cleric healing being entirely separate issues. In 3.5 in-combat healing was also pretty crappy; out of combat healing could much more easily be explained as non-magic (and I would expect a fighter to be a master of first aid far more so than a cleric is...

    D&D 5E Elemental Border Planes

I think they need to make clear the concept of what an elemental really is before dealing with their planes. What is an earth elemental? Is it an animate piece of rock that just really likes being a rock? Is it a spirit of earth, tied to a specific location? Is it an earth creature whose...

    D&D 5E New L&L When Adventurers Aren’t Adventuring

I like how Next is adding rules support for non-combat encounters on a broader level at base. For one, it might mean that the next generation of D&D games will have a gamist foundation for including such activities (and imo CRPGs are far and away our best ambassadors and recruiters). As for...

    D&D 5E Thoughts on 6-7-13 Playtest Packet

What do the schools serve anyway as? Mechanics interact to descriptors, not to schools. Schools are only useful for arcane specialization anyway. Healing spells should be exactly that, spells with no school and the healing descriptor.

    D&D 5E Additional Races! (June 7)

The answer to race abilities is simple but I guess too gimmicky to import from AD&D; racial max/mins.

    D&D 5E Desired Spell Changes

Invisibility is really strong against proper circumstances, useless against others. A simple door can make that spell pointless.

D&D 5E Should the next edition of D&D promote more equality?

MrHemlocks there is a massive series of arguments on whether art in D&D should be a tool of normative ethics or is moral-indifferent earlier in this thread. It'd be educational to check it out:)

D&D 5E Should the next edition of D&D promote more equality?

E.g. I love the Wheel of Time. I know there are tons of valid complaints but I love that series. In the books by Robert Jordan there are no visible male homosexuals. Lesbians are all over the place. In the last book we get a gay character. It is not a big deal nor is it made a big deal; it is...
